Yep, but as Roderick Warrick replied already, I think as well, that he would use nearly everything existing, to defeat / hit his opponent. He is a star and shows also here again, that his attitude of acting and fighting, is a class of its own, meaning he is one of the greatest at all. There are only a real few movies of JACKIE CHAN, which I do not understand yet, or like, the way, it actually should be.
@Blazeww3 жыл бұрын
As much as I like jackie, bruce lee and tony and think they are the greatest along with chuck norris ( who was best as texas ranger). They aren't godlike and thanos would just stand and take it finding them insignificant as a threat even without his almost impenetrable skin and strength cause if he had normal strength but kept his size at at least 900 pounds. Bruce might be able to kick a 300 pound heavy bag onto his roof but Punching bags don't fight back and weighted 3 times less.

Actually, it was Jackie’s (character) factory. He was there because he was down about losing his girl and was thinking. The glove was a softer version of a boxing glove. At the beginning, the opponent has boxing gloves, Jackie has the softer version. Halfway through the opponent switches to the softer gloves too. They protect the hands like actual boxing gloves, but since they are softer and thinner than actual boxing gloves, the punches hurt more than they would through the boxing gloves. Still not as hard as bare knuckles, but this way you save your hands from damage. I’m sure I messed up the explaination of the gloves, but you should get the gist. Also, the first time Jackie and the other guy fight, they were both wearing boxing gloves, and the opponent beat him soundly, so this scene he was giving Jackie a advantage from the get-go. Once he realized Jackie was doing better than him, he switched to the smaller gloves, to be on the same “playing field” as Jackie.

Honestly Jackie Chan is the only choreographer in decades to do a good job at bringing personality and drama INTO the fights. Many action films today do action for the sake of cool action (which is entertaining in its own right) , and in the rare cases that there's drama in an action scene, they're usually between the actual fights.

I love that the emphasis of this fight scene shifts from revolving around lateral outside footwork, to in the pocket blocking slipping and combinations, full contact kick boxing including the clench, then high level jumping/spinning kicks, before unleashing these moves in tandem with maximum effort and athleticism behind it, to really capture how respectful the feeling out process was and give somewhat of a framework of fundamentals. They didn’t even capitalize on each others slips until a certain point.

Honestly, the coolest part about this fight is the sportsmanship. It really isn't something I see a ton of in hollywood fights, and it's always REALLY cool to see a fight where someone is looking for an honest, fair fight. The fact the 'villain' in this is the one generally showing sportsmanship first is also really neat. Give the other guy a handicap, then rely on the other guy being nice and letting you revoke it. Opponent fell into a bad position, so rather than rush him help him out to keep things fair, inspiring them to catch you after when you embarassingly fall. These little touches really make this fight feel like something new... despite the fact this video was uploaded almost 10 years ago and IHNC when the original video was shot.

What makes his fights so good is that his enemy in just about any movie is allowed to get hits in on him. A lot of modern fight scenes are just fake punches and and kicks with jumpcuts and impossible dodges. That kind of stuff just isn't authentic, whereas here you see and really feel the characters fighting. You can definitely see a lot of the fake hits here but they never cut away from it. Its great
Kinda symbolic tho, what they're fighting for is just materials stuff, so they shouldn't be too stressful about it. Nevertheless, try your best to win, but don't dwell too much when you lose, that's just life.
