I agree .... i'm using fastfetch now for a while and i like, that it gives more and even more accurate information ... neofetch did not recognized my graphics card correctly and just stated the broad family, while fastfetch correctly states RX5700XT. And i like that fastfetch is no bash script, but written in C. Hence the 'fast' in the name ;).

neofetch used to hang for like half a second no matter which of my machines I was on but fastfetch does not. Also fast fetch shows more info like drives and such which is really nice

It has been 3 years without updates, then people see that repo is archived and think is dead. Noo, it has not been updated for a long time. and is a very simple application all written in a big bash file, with some functions with conditionals and a lot of logos printed on ASCII. Some distros like Garuda Linux have been using fastfetch for almost a year as an alternative to neofetch with an alias. Fastfech is developed in C and is a much more complex and simple to organize.

Neofetch is a bash script. It can't really reach close enough to the computer to be exploited in a way that it's responsible for, and there isn't really anything in it that can change as long as the FHS stays the same. Once its functionality got put in, that was kind of it.

I've replaced neofetch with fastfetch and noticed that it's a little bit faster and includes a few more details such as Display, WM Theme, Cursor, Swap, Disk, Local IP and Locale

Well it is faster because neofetch was written in BASH script and quite amazing for a script file. But fastfetch is written in 'C' so of course. I think maybe the neofetch author responded to fastfetch and thought it is now redundant.

fastfetch can be customized to show the details like you want. It has presets for neofetch-style details, one that makes your system Arch even though it's not, and more. Be careful with the all.jsonc though, it will show EVERYTHING, including your public IP.
