Yours are the only Booktube videos I'm able to watch at the moment. The gamification of reading and heavy focus of how many books a person reads a year, a month, a week, has given me some sort of completely irrational anxiety over reading. I now find it very hard to do and like a fraud in calling myself a reader. While my issues on this are completely irrational, I'm in an online community where I have so far spoken to 23 other people that have the exact same issue. - So I just wanted to say thank you for not focusing on the numbers and quantifying everything as many other Booktubers do (that's not a complaint on them or criticism of their content, it just doesn't work for me at the moment, hopefully it will in the future).

Quality over quantity! I'd rather take my time and truly enjoy a book rather than try to read as quickly or as many books as possible. That sounds exhausting :) Reading should always be enjoyable. I've been a reader and a lover of books and stories my entire life. However, I have times where I read a lot and other times where I read very little. I find this very normal. Life has many seasons and challenges. If you read books and love reading, it doesn't matter how much you read, you are a reader!

I hope your anxiety has eased off a bit. I love to read and have a long list of books to read. I’ll probably never get to them all! I am a slow reader too, but I don’t mind. It’s like having a big pile of gifts to open and you know there’s a lot to look forward to! Also, I always try to remember the old saying, “Comparison is the thief of joy.” It’s so true and I have to tell myself this when I start feeling jealous, envious, or inferior to someone else.
@jamiedianne67782 жыл бұрын
Okay, long list but my contributions for TV series are: Poirot (with David Suchet), Tommy and Tuppence (Partners in Crime, the version from the 80’s), Foyle’s War, Inspector Morse (and it’s prequel series “Endeavour”), and Rosemary and Thyme. ✨💛 Also “Charade” with Audrey Hepburn and Cary Grant is 👌👌👌

I don't know if you've already seen the old Agatha Christie movies. But if not I think you'll love them! Death on the nile from 1978 and Evil under the sun from 1982 (both with Peter Ustinov as Poirot). Murder on the Orient Express from 1974 (better than the new one in my opinion) and of course the series of Hercule Poirot with David Suchet (so good). Also I love the series Murder she wrote and Ellery Queen (with Jim Hutton). For books I really recommend the Flavia de Luce series :3 the main character is just too funny and I really like the vibes the books give me! I love your videos by the way

I recommend Night Must Fall for another classic movie murder mystery. The story centers around a woman who is taking care of a elderly and rude family member when a beheaded woman is found near their house. The whole movie is so well done and your emotions are tied up with the main character as she tries to figure out if the man working for them is innocent or guilty.

Love your recommendations, especially the movies. If you want to read fun, cute mystery novel I can recommend middle grade series written by Robin Stevens. First one is called Murder Most Unladylike. They take place at aborder school, two 13 yo girls solve murder mysteries. And another series, also middle grade (but honestly, an adult will pick more from the books than kids) is called Flavia de Luce, first book The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie by Alan Bradley. It takes place at English countryside in the 50's, the main protagonist is 11yo genius girl, who knows chemistry at university level, lives in a big mansion with two sisters, father and a butler. There are not only very good mystery stories but also the story of de Luce family, Flavia's mother tragic story, etc. I've been reading these books for the past ten years now, I'm 30 yo and I still love them so much. Highly recommend. They are also very cozy and atmospheric, smart too!

Peter Ustinov's Death on the Nile and Peter Ustinov's Evil Under the Sun. The Enola Holmes books are fun as well.
