Hey guys! I wanted to let you know I recently launched a new free resource called my Insiders Newsletter. Once a week I send out an important aviation lesson I've learned, links to my latest content, and behind the scenes info. You can sign up (free) at airplaneacademy.com/insiders

I think "RAF" might've already meant something else to aviation folk 🤔 ... My grandfather was in it. Looks like a cool resource though, will check it out.

Crazy thing is that the rest of the world does not revolve around the English.

@@pilotgenius9079 🙄 I didn't say the rest of the world would know, just aviation folk. And it was tongue in cheek, but w/e. I half expect the company that made this resource named it so on purpose.

Great video on a resource we will be using soon. My wife and I just camped at Petit Jean state park. Great facilities right on the airport just for pilots. We used that to fly to Gastons one day then to Byrds Adventure (home of Arkenstol) with a stop at Russellville when we met Redbeard a local competitor, supper guy and very helpful on the brief into Byrds. We did this in our Czech Sportcruiser, wheel pants off for flying to OZ. Looking forward to the new website and meeting more plane and pilot people like the ones we met at Petit Jean. Fly safe...

RAF is an unfortunate reuse of a world famous aviation moniker. People have died under that moniker to preserve world freedom.

I may only fly in flight sims (MSFS, X-Plane 11/12) in VR but this is very interesting, so thanks for sharing.

Another useful feature of Google Earth to see topography is to draw a “path” and then you can pull up a graph at the bottom to see the elevation changes over your path.

Excellent video Charlie. I just signed up. It is incredible how many back country strips are here in Arkansas. Unfortunately the flying club I am a member of doesn't allow us to land on turf strips. I would really love to check out these awesome strips. Thank you for highlighting this neat service. Keep up the excellent work. Safe skies my friend 🇺🇸🛩️

This is super cool. Really appreciate you creating this video to show us. I like this kind of editing WAY more than the random sounds and animated titles all over the place like in some of your other recent videos. That kind of editing is gimmicky in my opinion. You can only change the name of the KML or KMZ files by renaming the file before importing it to FF. I use those files all day long every day for work. Honestly FF is not very user friendly with the file names and how they’re displayed within the app. It’s pretty frustrating.

I saw your comment on cedar mills, that tree was pretty hairy!

yeah it's a bummer that they removed it! Don't know the full story yet.

Looks useful and promising, given there'll be plenty reviews and comments etc. Comments might also clutter it up too much, though...^^

Hey ! Could you please notify RAF web dev team that users are not able to create an account. The website keeps flagging an error when creating an account. Thanks for the video!!

Hi - is it still doing this? Any other info you can provide would be helpful (browser, etc.). You might send them a screenshot too. theraf.org/contact-us/

Nice. Not for EU?
@RecreationalAviationFoundation3 ай бұрын
Great question. All of the data on the Airfield Guide is gathered by our volunteers who are based all across the US, which is why we only have information about airstrips in the US.
@alesbezrouk27963 ай бұрын
@@RecreationalAviationFoundation I understand. However, that is a pitty because there would definitely be a lot of users in the EU too! :)

Hi! Do you handle editing in-house or remotely? I'm an editor and would be glad to discuss, if you’re interested.

They provide a great resource, not to mention content for this video and you don’t put a quick link to their site ? 🤔 Poor form

I'm not in the US, so this isn't looking useful *at all* for any of us outsiders. Open Street Map, combined with the wikipedia List of Airports in [country-name] is where I find which ones I'm interested in... OurAirports also helps, with understanding them, too.. ( not that I've got any means of getting to any of them, but you gotta dream! : ) _ /\ _
