When bass get into their post-spawn patterns, I always have one bait on the deck of the boat! I’ve caught more 3+ pound bass between May and June on the lure in this video than another other bait in my tackle box. Check out the video to see what it is and why it’s so effective!

Oh my god. In addition to the excellent content, an unintended consequence of this video was planting the most unforgettable music jingle in my head that has been with me for two days now....I cannot shake it and I whistle it and hum it constantly. I get puzzled looks from people because of it. Haha. Not sure whether to say thanks for that or not. Maybe I need to play it on my car stereo as an MP3....

You release some of the best fishing content on KZbin. I just started watching your videos and like how detailed you are. I really like how you use the topo maps, and explain where the fish are related on your lake. Keep up the good work!!

I started fishing flukes with a Owner 4/0 cover shot straight shank hook with 8lb. Line on a medium spinning rod with the hook rigged up side down and the point exposed which increased my hook up ratio and it is not as weed less but I don’t have much problems with weeds.

Fish the Moment Just throwing this out there man. I could really see you doing well as a professional bass fisherman, you have charisma in front of the camera and your fishing skills are on point. Sponsors would grab you up quick. If it's your dream go for it don't wait until your old like me and have regrets. A job is good I have a job, but a career is something you love. Just saying.

I'm starting my forth job since graduating and hoping this will be the career one I'd definitely watch you, but maybe avoid the box tv since everyone's watching Netflix and prime these days. Prime seems to be good for fishing shows, but they are all old. It might be time one of these to step up their game :-)

Hey Man, great vids and congratulations on getting your Masters Degree. Idea about fish management: I have started using a scale that has memory and will hold weights and calculate total weight so that I can weigh and record (the scale saves the weights) each fish (up to 8 fish) at the moment I catch them (like MLF). No need to hold them in the live well. The scale will total the weight for the best five (by deleting the smallest when you cull). This allows me to reduce the chance of over stressing (or killing) the fish, because I can return them back to their customary water immediately, and I still have the weights at the end of the day. This actually makes my day less stressful, too.
@FishtheMoment
@FishtheMoment 6 жыл бұрын
Tony West thanks for the advise! I’ll look into getting one. After this trip, I started weighing each fish as I caught them and releasing them right away. I’m still adding up their weight in my head throughout the day, that scale should help!

Well, you are young and smart so you can remember all of that, but I am old and dumb so I need an electronic helper. My Rapala scale is a big help for me and the fish and easy to view in the sun. Highly recommended.

Great way to record and release the fragile resource we have now. No need to take chances depending on live wells and chemicals to keep bass alive for viewing by others for a brief moment. Please use your U TUBE shows to explain to our young sportsmen the importance of this. It has a long time for us long timers to realize that we are enjoying a sport that depends on the health of species. Way too many bass dying just to hold for weigh-in and photo shots hours after being caught. Just imagine how the numbers and sizes would increase with immediate release.

@FishtheMoment
@FishtheMoment 6 жыл бұрын
Bassand Furious glad you enjoyed! By shallow grass, do you mean bank grass that sticks out of the water like in this video or submerged shallow grass? Here’s a video I made last year that shows how I use side scan to find bass on shallow grass flats. Let me know if this is what you’re looking for: kzbin.info/www/bejne/j4GXiGaha82Alas

I find I lose fish using wide gap on fluke style fishing too. I actually get better hookup ratio using an offset worm hook instead and if you know there isn't much weeds, I don't bother burying the hook into the bait.

Miss seeing your videos. Looking forward to more. I haven’t thrown the caffeine shad yet. I have tried a couple other smaller flukes that I can’t imagine throwing successfully on a baitcaster. Does the caffeine shad weigh enough that you don’t have casting issues?

Anywhere with clear water. This bite will also work around bushes or down rocky banks. If your lake has shallow grass and the water has less than 2ft of visibility, I would throw a swim jig or a frog instead.
