I was just about to recommend you play Unicorn Overlord when I heard you talking about Ogre Battle, and then I saw the segment for it. I'm glad you enjoyed it. Vanillaware definitely deserves the attention, they're my favorite company right now.

Bravely Default is one of my Favourite Turn Based JRPGs (and games as a whole), from it’s very fun gameplay with the job systems (very reminiscent of Final Fantasy 5), along with the “Brave and Default” mechanics, Brave allows you to use ‘Brave Points’ (BP), to use more abilities in the same turn you have, and if you’re in the Negatives, the character needs to rest before they can use their ability, great for either finishing off enemies or breezing through weaker enemies, and Default is the defend command, but gives 1 BP every time you default, with a general max of 3 BP to use in battles. It also has so many unique additions that most other games should have in some shape or form, like being able to manually set your encounter rate at any time with no cost, from no encounters at all - 2x encounter rate, Combat speed increase (up to 4x) and a very cool feature that changes the tides of battle, “Special Abilities” will play the character’s main theme, generally them doing some ability, and gets a passive boost in some stats to the entire party, and it ends when the character’s theme ends. You can reset the timer by using another character’s special ability, but it will STACK those buffs, really useful for making some very hard fights fun The story is also one of the better “Older Final Fantasy” stories, with multiple endings and very shocking events, many people will criticise the middle game due to it getting redundant, but I think it’s pretty cool as it expands on the side characters/villains, though this is optional which they fail to mention, so if you really wanted to you can just blaze through the game if you really want to. And has one of the best Soundtracks in gaming (subjective), and for a 3DS game no less! Composed by none other than REVO, the leader of Linked Horizon/Sound Horizon, really recommend listening to his music if you what you hear! I’m trying not to spoil too much but the game gets better as the farther you get, with more jobs to experiment with and you can indeed break the game in half with the right combination of jobs, and if you do the optional things you can really learn more about the side characters of the game! There is also Bravely Second (The direct sequel), which picks up after the events of Bravely Default, changing some things but generally sticking to the same formula with new jobs and characters, and a new Composer, ryu, so you can find a wildly different experience for the game, but has some more noticeable flaws due to those changes. And Bravely Default II, a standalone game and isn’t directly connected to the first two games, so you can start with this game as well, it changes up the classic turn based gameplay, and removed random encounters for monsters now showing up on the map, REVO returning and changes up on the music, the story is also great but somewhat falls off near the end (due to covid striking while they were in development), changing some jobs, for good or bad. I could go more in dept but I wanted to mainly focus on Bravely Default, and clearing up the confusion of the sequel (Second vs II) I also really enjoy the Trails/Kiseki series, Octopath Traveler/2, Xenoblade trilogy and the older Final Fantasy games (more so the ATB era)
