Meanwhile the Blaster Master Zero trilogy, while it sorta becomes its own thing, starts as a remake of the NES game, sort combining the stories of the US and Japanese stories, before surprisingly enough even taking stuff from this very Worlds Of Power book. I mean, Eve from the book here is a MAJOR character in the Zero trilogy.

This was one of my favorite games growing up. I rented it so many times because I couldnt find it in a store to buy and one day the rental place put it up for sale and I lunged for it like a ninja. There are confusing parts and many games back then were trial and error games. Like you couldnt beat the first zelda game unless you had a wild idea to just bomb every spot on the map.

This was really fascinating, I had never heard of this game until now! The tax write-off theory someone else mentioned makes sense, although it's rather ironic considering the theme of the game haha. Maybe one day we'll know for sure.

In terms of UX/UI (user experience, user interfaces) Warsong is pretty confusing, gotta agree with that. Objectives are vague (who'd guess "escaping the castle" means putting Garett onto whatever edge of map 1), they don't tell you what each item does, they don't tell you half of the rules, and so on. But behind that is hidden pretty immersive game mechanics and atmosphere. The battles are not nearly as random as it might seem, for instance, commanders (except wyverns. basilisks and gorgosaurs) never do more than HP/2+5 rounded down points of damage. I also really like literally EVERY unit in the game starts off exactly with 10 HP, and never exceeds that amount. This is a big refresher after countless amounts of health and MP bars in most RPGs. Also, they don't give you stat boosts each level up, stats only change at promotions. Levels only do 2 things: increase randomized hit accuracy, and improve magic once level 5 is reached. Terrain provides randomized evasion chance, a flat chance of missing some % of hits on given terrain no matter how high attack is. It really adds to the depth of the game, hence some units have inherently low defense, unimprovable by any items, but the HP/2+5 damage cap and the terrain evasion % make glass cannons quite useful (unlike in most RPGs). Overall, it's way less random, and way more fun for me, than say Shining Force, where they got too far with randomness, and a double attack from a foe could ruin ANY tactic no matter how hard you try. In Warsong, I surpsingly don't feel near as much at the mercy of RNG, and for me it was personally one of the most fun turn-based RPGs I've ever played. As for the plot, I do like the game does not promote wars. We start off defending our own castle, and have to deal with Chaos after we functionally become same as those dudes. As you noted, there's a plot twist: the defeated final boss makes a comeback on an overly confident MC, basically saying military power is not really a key of confining Chaos.

Various threads on AtariAge suggest that American Videogame/Dunhill Electronics was mostly a tax writeoff scheme wherein games (or at least titles) would be furnished in order to allow for accountancy tricks. Apparently Dunhill Electronics has over 293 copyrights to its name on file! ' There's a brief interview purporting to be from Jon Simonds in a thread from 2004 that goes into a little further detail. Here's what he had to say at the time: "Most of the other titles were "tax scams" that LM developed to sell as a loss so very rich people could get tax write-offs. A few of those games had to actually appear in stores (and they usually did, for under $5 in weird toy stores) in order to make the tax write-off 'legit'. We probably did about 10 2600 games this way (they were all slight modifications of one another). I don't have the titles because we didn't give 'em titles -- the accounting firms that sold the games named them. They weren't real games, anyway. Another neat thing we did was develop a custom ROM chip that had a couple of special features (autoincrementing indirect pointer registers) and stuff like that that we could use to speed up certain time-critical instruction sequences. I think Coleco may have used the chip design in one or two of their games, but I left LM before that point." No idea what the 10 games he's referring to are, or what their titles would be. But I hope this helps point you in a direction. I can't post the links to the forum itself without triggering KZbin's spam filter - but if you just poke around there I'm sure you'll find what you're looking for.

These games are easy lol. I mastered GK and ROTK on nes and snes starting at age 8 or 9. Just got back into them a couple months ago. On advanced level beat Rotk1&2, now playing 3, already control 40% of China so its all downhill from there. The fun part is starting out, that is the challenge, but once you become powerful, the game becomes easy. The AI isnt that smart, even on the hardest levels

You should still play Warcraft 3 it is the best Warcraft game, I mean WoW has way more content now, but it’s not really a game anymore, as you know it’s more of a second life. And Reforged does suck but you can switch it to classic mode, so it’s not a complete dumpster fire.

Your history is a tad incorrect (3:15) Parker Brothers did not make "video" games in the late 1970's. Their first video games were released in mid to late 1982. The games that were made in the late 70's were simple blinking LED light electronic board games & handheld games. I actually owned two of the three they released as a kid (Wildfire & Merlin). Parker Brothers did license/publish titles from other companies, but the games themselves were made in house. It was confirmed from a old interview with Ed Temple that worked at Parker Brothers making Amidar before he left Parker Brothers to work for Coleco.

Sega also brought or published games on other game consoles including the atari 5200 ,colecovision and intelevision, etc,;; but not on the atari 7800 because by that point they had already their own game consoles, Now i wonder wich sega fan would like to collect those sega games on atari systems among other ones because that might be cool for them as well.
