@@strawberiee I don't think there's a good way to look into it without spoiling the movie. It feels like these are culturally specific references that you don't really understand on first watch but appreciate more on subsequent watches after looking into them.

the devils bath is actually an incredible film. Theres just this pulsating malevolence under the surface of the entire runtime and its also drop dead gorgeous,, there were some shots in this movie that just feel impossible in their beauty and composition. I dont want to spoil anything here either but if you like a slow burn horror film this is an absolute must.
@theplatitudefromouterspace1686Ай бұрын
Definitely check out Strange Darling, really good, technically more of a thriller though, also, while not exactly the "full package" Cuckoo is absurdly weird enough to merit a watch.

I love going into horror movies blind. To be honest, I would never watch a video like the one I made, haha.

Thriller is a BS genre, thrillers are just horror with a procedural narrative. Silence of the Lambs, for instance, is a horror movie.

@J.J.Jameson_of_Daily_BugleАй бұрын
@@TheBackFocus Strange Darling was actually pretty good, I went blind and it was legit surprise. The Substance was also weird movie, it actually kept me questioning where the movie was going all the time. Haven't seen Cuckoo yet, heard it was good, but I avoid reading about it, because I want to go in blind. Exhuma was actually really good, it had me interested start to finish and I really enjoyed performances, the shaman girl doing the ritual dance scene was just mesmerizing.

New Life: Haven't heard of it but your premise hooked me The Devil's Bath: Seen it! Loved the sense of total immersion in the time and place in a way no other period drama I've seen has done Oddity: Been waiting to watch it! It was just added to Shudder so will be watching ASAP Exhuma: Seen it! I found the reflections of the generational trauma of Japan's occupation of Korea really interesting Infested: Seen it! 4:12 really threw me for a loop so I went and researched the movie and finally figured out what he’s saying. 🚨Spoiler ahead so don’t read if you don’t want to know. 🚨 He says: “She wants to commit suicide but can’t because she is religious and afraid of going to hell so she commits a crime that would get her executed after confession.” The movie is basically a long winded tale of a woman un-aliving herself by proxy. A sort of Suicide by Cop in the 1800’s. 🙄
