You should read Jake Anderson’s “Gone at midnight”. It’s about the Elisa lam case but he talks a lot about his struggles with bi polar and how consumed he became in her case. One of the best books I’ve read in a long long time! Brings up a ton of interesting things that were missed in her case

I’ve been bingeing My Favorite Murder for the past few weeks. I realized I love how they tell the stories without any fanfare or added creepiness. The only other scary thing I let myself watch is Criminal Minds, which, yes, is super super scary sometimes, but for some reason I love it. Thanks for this hyper-specific book recommendation list!

I think I am definitely on the low scare end of serial killer books. I like cosy mysteries on TV as well, though I have been sucked into criminal minds because I love the team ( I turn on all the lights after watching it). I have just received the second of the Naturals series from the library after starting the series on your recommendation. I'm enjoying it so far! In fact I may read it tonight as it has been a long day at work. Thanks for an enjoyable video!

Some of the non-fiction were new to me! We'll go with that! =) I've picked up the begging of the In Death series finally and can't wait to get started. The books that leap to my mind featuring serial killers are the Kay Scarpetta books by Patricia Cornwell. I generally reread about the first 10 without issue, but then she started writing in present tense with number 11. I am very, very, very rarely ok with that style of writing. I don't know if she went back to past tense, so I may be missing out.

Mr. Perfect is great, the base idea is amazing, love it (Julie Garwood's Murder List has a similar premise but it's a little bit lighter and with a good romance). Nora Roberts is my FAVORITE, her more romantic series, her suspense standalone and, of course, J.D. Robb. Just AMAZING. Karen Rose is another ALL-TIME FAVORITE AUTHOR so an auto-buy for me, I really hope that you pick up these series because I'm pretty sure that you will love it.

I am going to cunningly combine my thoughts on this topic with your previous YT vid on TBR's: My longest TBR is 'Fred and Rose' by Howard Sounes. Its a biography of Britain's most notorious serial killers, husband and wife Fred and Rose West. I read the first two chapters, and found it so harrowing (their evil was hideous beyond belief) that I decided to take a short break before continuing. That was 24 years ago - a time span which effortlessly trounces your TBR. If you're interested in serial killers, though, you need go no further than those two. A truly hideous couple.

Ehhhhhh... :) Have you FORGOTTEN "Perfume", by Patrick Süskind ?! Or have you simply never read it ? 🙀 It's a novel by a German contemporary author, set in Paris, France in the 1700s . It follows the story of a young boy, born and raised in dire poverty . He would have been destined for a life of misery, working in the tanneries, which ALREADY used highly toxic chemicals at that time - qualifying as ingested / contacted / inhaled poisons ( so dangerous for the people living in the neighbourhood, also ) . BUT... ...He possessed a very rare biological gift : he was born with a "super-nose", meaning he naturally had an INSANE sense of smell ( by human standards ) . He becomes an apprentice to a perfumer, and becomes obsessed by recreating certain non-traditional smells in his perfumes ( i.e. freshly cut wood ) . His favourite smell soon becomes that of young female teenagers... say, between the time they get their period until 2 years later ( when the smell changes due to a different gonadic hormonal balance ) . And he is QUITE determined to reproduce that smell in the "perfect perfume" that he is working on... You can see where this is going . This book is AMAZING... It truly puts you in the perspective of the killer, and describes most everything through the sense of SMELL ( which is practically UNHEARD OF in literature) . Which makes it unlike anything you have ever read... YÉÉÉÉÉÉ ! 😸 It also offers a different setting than almost all other "serial-killer" style books . And both the time and place are recreated very well . I highly recommend this book to ANYONE... Even to people who normally HATE serial killer type of stories !! Because it is THAT unique in style, and, yes, that DOES make it a truly worthwile experience . PS : Avoid the film, however... Compared to the book, it plainly SUCKS .😒 Will make you NOT want to read the novel ( much unfortunately... )
