Love my Topo Ultraventure Pros, and they will be coming with me on my Camino. I wear them hiking the AT, and if they can get me through there, they will do amazing on the Camino.

Hi Kate, I've walked several Camino alternating between Topo Ultra Venture Pro and Hoka Challanger ATR. I bring two pairs of shoes. The Topo has a wide toe box and a carbon plate in the sole. Also, the shoe tonge does not rotate with their strapping lace tech. Watch out for the redesigned Topo. Make sure they are sized properly. I went from an 11M to an 11.5M two yrs ago under their redesign. Buen Camino

TOPOS for the Win! Love them so much, I bought my highly opinionated “you do you, I’ll do me” a pair. He wore them one week just to show me I was wrong…and then he ordered a 2nd pair. LOL!

Hey Kate...hmm, another option. I will definitely check out the Topos. I have used Altra's on a couple of Caminos. 2 pairs of Lone Peaks, but was not happy with the sole, so on the last one I upgraded to the Olympus with the vibram sole and it made a world of difference. I have walked most of the Frances and a great deal of walking locally and they are still in good shape. Much more durable than the Lone Peaks. Love the toe box, and the zero drop was not an issue at all. Probably the best advice is to change your socks every 2 hours to keep your feet dry. Never wear water proof shoes unless it is winter. Buen Camino!!!

TOPO’s are very popular with the AT/PCT crowd. Curious how many kms they last especially with so much hard surface walking?

Hi Kate, do you buy those shoes oversized to accomodate your foot swelling?
@WanderlustingLawyer11 ай бұрын
Hi Jan! Yes I think I mention in the video that I purchased a men’s size because I don’t think they make women’s size 12 (usually I’m an 11 but not for the Camino), however, these shoes specifically come with a wide toe box anyway! And there are even wider models.

Awesome, thank you.

Can't remember if it was this video or another one, but you mentioned that on rainy days you wear hiking sandals and waterproof socks. Not taking issue with the idea at all but I am curious. Do your feet sweat alot in waterproof socks? I've hiked for years (not on the Camino) and I had never heard anyone else talking about wearing water proof socks. Again, not taking issue with, or being critical of, the idea. Thanks for some great videos.

Hi, awesome question! Hiking sandals + waterproof socks is my recommendation for a super rainy day on a summer Camino (since I’d probably use goretex shoes if I ever did a spring Camino). I don’t recall my feet getting sweaty! The socks are breathable, and the sandals are also breathable (and I’m sure being soaked everywhere else because of the rain meant that my feet felt completely dry in comparison 🤣).

I walked the Via de la Plata last fall and wore Keen sandals and waterproof socks for about five days in a row because it rained that whole time. That combination worked great for me! I am a bit surprised that more people are not aware of this great combination for walking in heavy rain. I would, however, recommend wearing rain pants, as opposed to shorts, to prevent water from running down into the socks. @@WanderlustingLawyer

Ojalá algún día dejen de llamarlo "el camino de Santiago". Otra manipulación y apropiación indebida más de la Iglesia, como tantas otras mentiras con las que construyeron su multinacional
