SUCH a great video (as ever)- I've never been super into gear and just sort of use whatever I bought for that first Camino all those years ago, and am slowly learning that I could stand to upgrade a thing or two :) I've taken lots of notes from both you and Sara- you can always trust a Girl Scout ;)

Thanks so much Nadine! Gear upgrades are always super fun but the best gear is usually what you have. But with the amount of hiking you do, a few upgrades go a looooooong way. Sara and I are both super huge gear nerds so it's so fun for us to always look for the perfect or better option. ❤

Thanks again for useful info. I have a USWE pack because of the strap system and its waterproof. Mine also has the removable waist strap which means you dont need a 'fanny pack' and you can remove it in seconds. its been a game changer for me so thanks for recommending them. Looking forward to your Lebaniego videos soon (I hope).

I always love your gear videos! And it's great to have another perspective in this one. - If I can help it I always hike with gaiters to prevent rocks and debris from getting inside my shoe. - I recently kitted out my girlfriend and we tried a lot of outfits before we funny enough settled on mostly the same thing I wear: Outdoor Research Ferrosi Pants, Outdoor Research Echo Sun Hoodie, Mountain Hardware AirMesh Hoodie, Decathlon MT100 down jacket, Dooy windbreaker, Frogg Toggs Xtreme Lite rain jacket, Darn Tough socks, Aonijie toe socks, Topo shoes, and Branwyn underwear. She started with other gear but she kept using *my* stuff because it was more comfortable so eventually she switched. - I'm always super jealous that women can get away with a town dress because it's so light and easy and super airy. If not for the reactions I would likely get on the Camino I'd do it myself. - I still find that a good hiking umbrella (mine is from Six Moon Designs) is *essential* for both sun and rain. For most rainy conditions I just use the umbrella, maybe add a rain skirt (which doubles as a groundsheet!) and if it's extra windy and/or cold I'll use my rain jacket. I recommend either a jacket with the membrane on the outside like Gore Shakedry or Columbia Outdry or go with a poncho or plastic rain jacket. Both of these options will never wet out (as long as they don't get holes) unlike DWR jackets like the ones you all have. "Waterproof breathable" is a marketing myth. - I friggin' love that Victorinox SD, but mine did *not* go through TSA. I had to bury it near the airport and retrieve it upon my return. - I bring office binder clips to hang my clothes, and it also works to keep my chip bags closed! - Sit pads are great and I love them, but an 1/8" foam pad that you can roll out for siestas is even better! - I have no doubt living life hard of hearing is a challenge, but it must feel like a superpower to not suffer snorers in albergues 😝

@@DaysWeSpend It was amaaaazing! Though I twisted my foot and counter-twisted my knee resulting in some swelling that's not over yet, we had a fabulous camino. Vivi was strong and good going as never before 💪👌 The lumbar packs were the right decision all the way even when my Teva sandals broke and I had to carry them the last 100 K from Lugo. Our packing was close to being flawless. Vivi used every single item and didn't miss anything. I had a long sleeve shirt that I didn't use at all and a pair of long tights that were only in use once. Also we only used the safety pins once, but I would go without another time. You'll never know about the weather so I don't think there'll be any changes for the next (summer) camino ⚜️

We walked in summer. Most places have blankets. The places that didn’t, we slept in our pants and sweaters if it was cold. It’s definitely a personal preference and season dependent!

I am starting Camino Frances September 14. Looking for your opinion. I am bringing the rain jacket I wear when backpacking, do you think I need to bring my rain pants? Also, I am bringing a fleece sweater, do you think I also need to bring my down jacket? Thanks. I really enjoy your videos. Thanks for posting.

If you like to hike in rain pants, bring them. You might want them in Galicia. But if you don't mind getting your regular pants/shorts wet, the rain pants aren't necessary in that time of year. We recommend bringing the fleece or the down. At that time of year, we'd probably go for the warmer option since it may be chilly in October when you finish. Buen Camino!

I, unfortunately, don't think I'll every be able to walk those wonderful walks. ( Not enough money😢) However - I am looking for some underwear that is more comfortable than what I have been wearing for years (underwire - simply awful!) So, I'll try those items ❤ Also, you are correct! I saw another Camino, where the couple advises to spread on the cream/ lotion Body Glide onto your feet every day and evening - then, to wear a thin pair of silk socks, then, over those - wear wool socks over those silk socks - to prevent - yep - blisters! So, validating your suggestions - which you do in a very wholesome and cute manner! ❤❤❤

I also have hearing aids. Is it that humid that it will screw up the hearing aids without the dehumidifier case? I've never used one of those before.

It's not super humid on most of the trails (on the Norte, in Galicia, and in the mountain it's super humid though). The dehumidifier case helps the hearings aids dry out from sweating in them all day. My audiologist recommended it to prolong the life and sound quality of the hearing aids.

Yes, those are very easy to find at a pharmacy or grocery store.

Some albergues have washing machines that you can either pay to use or use for free. Large cities also have laundromats.
