I knew at #13 "gold foil font" that Needful Things is also going to make the list but wouldn't have guessed #1. For some weird reason this is also my favorite, the book's spine has always hit my eye in a pleasing way in my bookshelf. Seems there is some unexplainable beauty in it, the red and gold in combination maybe...

Great picks. Shout outs for the paperback versions of The Shining with the silver foil and the dark silhouette of Danny's hair and for The Stand - the raven eye overlaid over The Walking Dude's eyes. Duma Key hardcover is excellent too.

The Dark Half is by Don Brautigam (who did quite a few King covers back in the day, mostly paperbacks). Pet Sematary by Linda Fennimore. Suntup Press has/had prints of these covers for sale, with the artist credited.

Artwork for books used to be a lot more "inkier" and artistic. Most books these days look like they were printed with a digital technique. I don't care for it. I never knew that would happen. I should have hung on to more of my books from yesteryear. Good list!

Thank you for affirming my little obsession with book covers, i'm currently collecting his new covers just out, very beautiful designs on the most part and a wonderful departure from kings 2000s covers,, very bland and not grabbing your attention at all. subbed
