Good stuff. I have the Ninox with the Ninox rain fly, but then got the Nube w/gear stash (but w/o the rain fly) that I can hook the Ninox fly to. I love the set-up. The hammock can move independently of the shelter, and having the insect screen the Ninox comes with taken off makes everything seem more open and spacious. I’ve spent several weeks in it over the last couple of years, and I love it. It’s an incredible camping hammock and shelter.

I might get a Nube with fly at some point - sounds great!
@greggbarcelow5533 Жыл бұрын
Sorry, correction…it is a Stratos shield. It looks like they no longer carry that, or maybe they just renamed it Nube. Who knows. Mine connects directly to the Ninox fly, so if you already have the fly, see if you can get the shelter w/o fly. I have spent a total of about 30 nights in my Ninox over the last 2 years, and once I figured out how to move around in it (which was more about me having faith that the materials could support me moving around just fine), I have no complaints about the rig at all.

Bought the Ninox during the initial kickstarter. Only spent 2 nights in it but that's health reasons, not gear reasons. With the 0 degree inferno set it is plenty warm even for my old crippled up body. Now if only the top quilt face hole shoulder wrapping arrangement didn't cause me to panic when I am falling asleep.
@SimonSaysCanada Жыл бұрын
😄 I LOVE the inferno! I plan on doing a winter review later this year. I bought a seriously capable Therm-a-rest Polar Explorer for minus 40 weather - and that thing feels like your being swallowed feet-first by a python 😆 Works though!

I was rather strung-up by Simon Says having posted another review video - but I hung onto every word, all questions I had were covered, and it was all so well done there was no need to get all puffled up! Seriously, nice to see another one of your highly entertaining (and useful) videos! Question though: you mentioned size and weights, and it seems like a lot if you were hiking - wouldn't a small tent be more efficient? A tent would/could have more space to keep gear dry, and so on - so while this kit looks very well made (and thought-through) and rather cool, it's possibly not that efficient? In short, why would one chose a setup like this over a tent (excepting being on Pulau Ubin where being off the ground is bound to keep you _way_ cooler than in a tent)?
@SimonSaysCanada2 жыл бұрын
Yes - a small tent would be a better option for ultra-light hiking. But smaller size comes at the expense of comfort. Fair trade-off. I see this kit as a perfect multi-day basecamp setup for canoe-camping, paddleboard camping - perhaps quad-camping - anything where you can easily carry more gear with you. It’s a great semi-glamping kit for a relaxing weekend in the mountains, a small-scale adventure where long-distance hiking is not mandatory.

Hello, I very much enjoyed your video and I have a few questions. Our opinions on things depend very much on our references. You said your hammock is very comfortable. How long is it? Have you tried any other, preferably longer hammocks for comparison? I own a few, but I never had the money to buy Sierra Madres stuff. If I was to decide on it I'd consider your opinion of them in my purchase. Do you have any other underquilts? I saw you sleep in a cozy setup during cold nights, but I wondered about a better underquilt to suplement mine instead of hot tent. With regards, fellow Canadian 🤘
@SimonSaysCanada2 жыл бұрын
Hey! This hammock is 11 feet long from loop to loop - by far the longest one I own. I had an Eureka camping hammock as well as a Sierra Madre Solo, both of which cannot compare to the Ninox. I’ve tried a few other brands from friends and demos - but the Ninox bested them all - at least the ones I’ve tried… I own the Sierra Madre Inferno top quilt and underquilt for cold weather - I’m just waiting on the first snow to make another video about it. Best kit so far has been Ninox + Inferno quilts + Pomoly hammock hot tent! That’ll get you through ANYTHING!

@@SimonSaysCanada are you referring to Eureka Chrysalis?
@SimonSaysCanada2 жыл бұрын
Yup, that’s the one. Pretty good, but a little too strong on the banana effect.
@1przemian2 жыл бұрын
@@SimonSaysCanada I've used it many times on my fishing trips, don't find the banana effect on it, but rather narrow around midsection, preventing me to side sleep like I can in my gathered end hammocks. However, it's great for cold outings, it tends to keep warmth against Windy conditions, specially when paired with a decent tarp.

I’ve got Barbie legs - they always hyper-extends a big in Chrysalis.
