Hey Jeremy, Chris the wiggler guy here. Thanks for the nice words about Wiggler and sorry I missed you! My friend Jon did a great job covering the table half the time so I could walk about and enjoy the show. I hope to catch you another time!

I think it's really interesting that these companies are starting to make boxes aimed at very specific popular dance elements like the rumble, the riser fxs, the break chopper. I know it's maybe more narrow than the standard modular philosophy, but it's also surprising that manufacturers haven't thought of it before.
@tobiaswinkler69718 ай бұрын
Interesting point. I think in a world where ki music and trends on social media dominate the market it’s very needy to have products that are not aimed to a specific genre or trend.
@Dekkie618 ай бұрын
I think it's really horrible actually. It reinforces the move towards formulaic music instead of breaking away from it. Music genres going through phases of convergence and divergence is nothing new, off course, but it seems to be especially narrow right now with youtube tutorials, spotify algorhythm, beatport lists, plugin specialization and tiktok/instagram plays. Techno rumble + noise riser + splash is a specific example that makes we want to run away from the mainstage to a niche stage
@EarlyMist8 ай бұрын
@Dekkie61 might have to agree to a point. Techno rumble is pretty variable and subjective. Lumping it into one thing seems limiting...but, it could be handy in 'the toolkit' for professional producers or those who want quick painless rumble. The Rumble is so variable tho...
@lukaramishvili6 ай бұрын
Helpful for live performance cases with limited space, but gets old quickly. There are a lot of modules that do that specific thing well, but are also versatile tools for other things, like Electus Versio that can do any rumble you can think of, but is also a delay, reverb, atmosphere generator and a lot of other things. Joranalogue modules are also designed in a similar way.

I'm pretty sure the Metal Fetishist drum synth is referencing the movie Tetsuo: The Iron Man where the antagonist is credited as that name. If you like the sound of that synth, listen to the movies soundtrack. I think Body Synths really got the sound down imo!

I'm so jealous, I've been trying to get my hands on an M8 (and a micromonsta) for well over a year now without paying scalpers and it's proven to be impossible. I finally just gave up and quit checking about a month ago.
@tezeta37258 ай бұрын
It seems like theres a fair amount on reverb for non scalper prices now that the mkii is anounced. I ordered one and its coming today so I guess Ill find out if its legit or not lol Update: It was in fact legit! There's been several more posted for under $600 on reverb since I bought it too!

Here's hoping, one of these years, the stars will align and I'll be able to go there both for Germany and the synths and the excellent folks (present company included) who go there to play with the fun music toys. Can't wait to see what you come up with the new M8 2.0. It looks very, very slick!

The Dirtywave M8 seems really nice. I'm poor though, so I'm tempted to instead use Little Piggy Tracker on a Miyoo Mini Plus. It's based on the LSDJ workflow just like the M8 is, and has basically the same screen and physical controls, but it isn't as full-featured or polished. However, it's about $40 instead of $650+, so... I can actually afford it.

4min 30 seconds... The drum synth with the sequencer that messes around with timing conventions, shrinks and extensions... the one you said you've never seen before... . Just an FYI about those type of sequencer functions, BEING that the old Yamaha RM1x and RS7000 units can do this quite easily with simple 2 knob functions, in addition to an 'append track' and 'append phrase' "job" functions.... Basicaly its a menu setting to shrink or stretch a phrase (think ableton clip) or track (explains itself) These are are JOB (edit) functions BUT... the next part im about to describe, is where the magic is.. . When u use these phrase shrinks and extensions, it does exactly as you described, BUT youre not limited to locked time signatures or measures. You can use percentiles, measures, and different quantisation and shuffle and timing functions locked n as an edit... BUT even better than that... Outside of the Job function, youve got the knob controlled octaver and harmonizer (think chord generator but manual and knob controlled) in addition to gate (sustain length) and velocty... ALL in realtime... PLUS a relatime "Grid Groove" editing function, which is a step sequencer/arpegiator very much like the arpegiator in Sylenth, which can run alongside everything else, but IN REALTIME... so you can do you job thingy... tweak it in the Grid Groove, then tweak even more in realtime using the knobs or simply assign the the 4 knob functions to 4 different knobs (theyre usually 2 knobs which a "knob layer" button literally giving one knob 2 functions and u swap out by pressing a button.. U can avoid all that.. just assign the knobs.. .. Its one of the best features in the sequencers... Better in the RS7000 as its a sampler and fully loaded 16 part sample based synth (or rompler) and looper (and yes, you can do that appending of the track or phrase to a sampled loop, pitched tone, sampled tone, rompler, drum or synth or anything you throw in it.... And when ppl discover theRS7000 is Akai sample compatible (read only) they kinda freak coz the RS7000 is as good as (and in some cases and functions BETTER) than the MC707 and SP404mk2 and its nearly 25yrs older... It even has a customisable drawable LFO lollll . If ppl cant afford the RS, grab an RM1x and hook it up to an external device or sampler... itll pass everything I just described ... ALL OF IT.... through midi... Mind you there are enough rompler sounds to mess around on the RM1x and some of the tones have actually become mroe relevant NOW than they were back in the day.....

Another great idea for Mr. Schneider's Superbooth would be to have, just like the oh so famous BERGHAIN,... some darker rooms. That would expand the target audience by measures!!! I will contact him soon enough and am sure that he will listen and execute. Currently only people that know about gear come there... but it should be an educational event that introduces more people into the magic of sound :-D Jeremy! Don't get me wrong. U know I'm a unicorn. I hope u had a great time again in Berlin. Btw. FEZ is cool and stuff... but if he were really cool. Next Superbooth will be in Tempelhof... we'll see. w It's also more central. Also he could invite Lady Ada and Naomi Wu... to equalize the XX/XY ratio. They both love electronics as much as the rest of the audience and wouldn't say no. Andrew from Asia was already there... did you see Look Mum No... this year?
