It is actually SOOO validating knowing we use the same recourses for designing! imposter syndrome is hitting hard after graduating and this is so helpful to know I am doing things okay loll

I feel you on the imposter syndrome, it's a never ending struggle lol. I didn't go to school for design so it's actually validating to hear I'm using the same design tools as a new graduate haha

awesome I'm glad it was helpful! I'm curious what were you freelancing in before? do you have any tools you prefer to use for the freelancing side of things? I'm always curious to hear other people's process

I love your videos! Fellow designer here! I saw in one of your other videos that you took the Ilovecreatives course. I was wondering if the business/freelance module is comprehensive enough and if you consider any of the tools they suggest? It’s an investment so I wanted to make sure I making a good decision! Thanks in advance!

It's definitely an investment! The business/freelance module is much smaller compared to the design/squarespace modules but it does include resources like a contract template and canned email responses, stuff like that. I think what it gave me most of all was the confidence to act like a professional, as silly as that sounds. Before the class, I felt like I didn't know what I was doing, I didn't use contracts, I would send over an excel spreadsheet to clients for an invoice and have them mail me a check. This class showed me processes that other professional web designers use, and it was helpful seeing it all laid out for me. If you already feel like you have some of that stuff figured out, it may not be worth it. It also validated my web design skills (I felt like I already knew most of what was taught in the design/Squarespace modules) and gave me the confidence to charge a little closer to what I'm worth. I don't know if any of that is helpful haha. You also get access to a Discord server and you can earn points to have your website(s) reviewed by some of the class teachers, which is kinda cool but I have kind of fallen off from using the Discord.

@@jenwebbcreates Thank you for the detailed feedback! I already bought a really expensive web design course but was looking for more support and more information on the business side of things. The course I have is hefty on the coding, and I was a web developer in a previous life, so I love that about it. I was hoping this one was more robust regarding the business strategy! Based on your feedback, I'm still on the fence!

Hey, what course did you use to learn Graphic design?
@jenwebbcreatesАй бұрын
so many! Mostly on Skillshare, anything by Aaron Draplin, Lindsay Marsh has some good ones, Daniel Scott if you want to learn Adobe tools. There's probably so many other good ones out there now, these are the big ones I remember from when I was first learning graphic design. now, I watch a lot of youtube videos

is Canva that frowned upon in the design world?
@jenwebbcreates6 ай бұрын
I don't frown upon it! I use it on occasion but I prefer to use Figma and Illustrator for brainstorming and coming up with concepts. but I will sometimes make some branded templates in Canva for my client to use, if needed.

Can you please share the contract template..

unfortunately I can't because it was part of a class I bought, so it's not mine to share 😩 but I can share the course if you're interested: ilovecreatives.com/squarespace-design-course
