Hi Joel, my name is Nathan, and I have a video production company in Fortaleza, in the northeast of Brazil. Congratulations on having the courage to share the behind-the-scenes of a project like this, especially the impostor syndrome part. It's something that all of us who work in the audiovisual industry go through, and it's important to talk about it because it's a reality. Good job and keep moving forward!

As a traveling shooter, it is always a good idea to just set up your shoot before you have to actually do the shoot with the clients. I definitely been there before. And great video!

Amazed to see your lights with lightbanks on Uni To stands. You've sold me on the Light Banks. . Two cameras, lights, in 3 cases, excellent work.
@JoelGabrielsenАй бұрын
Thanks David!! Still trying to find the best head combo for these things but the concept is working great. Thanks for watching!
@bairstoriesАй бұрын
Those LightBank modifiers are interesting to me as an alternative for smaller but powerful setups.
@ideaplusagencyАй бұрын
That bounce off the hotel ceiling is definitely helping a lot
@FilmgoblinАй бұрын
I got the lightbank tube it’s really great and easy to work with. I noticed the hotspot the other day when checking false color.

Those LightBank modifiers are new to me, thanks for the discovery.

I don’t get influenced often by KZbinrs but after watching this video twice I ordered 2!
@JoelGabrielsenАй бұрын
That is awesome! I’m the same way as well. Some products are just really good though and worth looking into. Thanks for watching!
@davidmorefieldАй бұрын
The boominess of that light bank looks valuable. I’d love to be able to push away my big soft boxes and stands just a few more feet away. Love this kind of interview strike mission.
@JoelGabrielsenАй бұрын
It really does work great, I’m a big fan so far! Thanks for watching bro!
@d.edwardsfreelanceeditorvi4212Ай бұрын
I like those lightbanks. Less space than a softbox modifier and looks good.

Love these type of videos where you share why you did the things you did, and more importantly, the end result. Looked fantastic - thanks for sharing!

15:18 wow, you must have had some awesome ND going on to get that histogram, looks great!
@JoelGabrielsenАй бұрын
Yes! That’s the good part about the Sony FS5. It has the built in ND. Really helpful! Thanks for watching!

I'm glad I clicked on this video. I'm definitely going to look into both the lights on the modifiers. That travel/Pelican case setup was dope to see as well.

Thanks so much! I was really happy with how it turned out. Thanks for watching!

One of those as a hair light is such a cool idea. I will be picking one up!
@JoelGabrielsenАй бұрын
For sure! With the grid it makes a great hair light, even on bigger shoots.

You're making me want that Lightbank more and more...
@CinegavoАй бұрын
go for it, near expendables money... I have two, but opted out for the LCDs because I heard they made make the modifier sag with the extra weight, but not sure how true it is. I have just usually skirted it if I need
@matrixxhunterАй бұрын
I definitely like those lightbank modifiers.
@allen_bernardo_jrАй бұрын
havent finished the video yet but those inflatable modifiers are really cool, I think an inflatable lantern/dome type thing would be nice, and I imagine a bit easier to set up than a normal lantern with the rods and whatnot 👏
@GeorgeGuilloryАй бұрын
Really great lighting setup! Those molus lights + lightbank modifiers give you a really small kit, but with awesome results. Thanks for sharing!
@JoelGabrielsenАй бұрын
Yeah they really come in handy, especially for travel! Thanks for watching!
@bbrunorochaАй бұрын
the results looks very good, I loved it ! I have a couple friends that own this tube modifier and they said the same thing about the hotspot, it's a con, but depending on how you use it, it can be a pro. Thanks for the video !

Nice, you mentioned using something even smaller? I like to pair the modifiers with Amaran 60xs and run handheld. It's so great when working in quick environments like a kitchen or something

Good, interesting video. The never ending quest for compact travel gear. I have the 1615 case. Its my favourite for going in the hold but I like my production manger 20 much more. The 500 watt light looks interesting for size but I would guess that was the source of the buzz on the hotel room sound. I went with the Smallrig 450bi. I am happy with that light and there small Fresnel is great for travel.
@ideaplusagencyАй бұрын
At the 15:54 mark it's interesting that you're shooting at 2000 ISO with that much natural light. Can you explain the thought process behind that?
@jbf5030Ай бұрын
The FS5 slog base iso is 2000
@AndresArosemenaАй бұрын
@@jbf5030thanks. That would mean then that if I was using a Canon with base iso 800, those lightbanks with the key light at aprox 300w would not be enough light to expose for the windows and the talent, right?
@videopromikeАй бұрын
Dude, you get some of the coolest gigs. The Bible Museum… that’s amazing! Would love to be on a crew for you if you ever come to California and you need help. Those air tubes looked amazing in the hotel room, they hardly took up any space in comparison to soft boxes.
@Tommy_BealАй бұрын
good stuff man! you rocked this shoot!!
@JoelGabrielsenАй бұрын
Dude! I appreciate it man. Thanks for watching!
@jbf5030Ай бұрын
Awesome lights I’m going g to look into those…. Question about the audio - what audio device are you using, it doesn’t appear to be going directly into the FS5? Thank you!
@mickymack1230Ай бұрын
Great Video thanks for the headsup on the Air Tubes
@videopromikeАй бұрын
You’ve probably answered this question in another video, but what picture profile do you use to match the Sony FS 5 and your mirror is cameras like the Sony a7IV or FX3? Because if I remember correctly, you usually just shoot and send off the footage or do you just shoot it in S-log3 and then convert it?
@DavidFloresАй бұрын
Great content, always looking to improve my travel gear and have the same imposter syndrome when relying on new gear for the first time despite the years of experience haha The final imagery looked fantastic, ideal exposure with great color work as well 👌
@PapoCloudАй бұрын
Thanks for share Joel. Great job. take care!
@zacgrimaldoАй бұрын
You check your cameras and lenses? I have had my gear NOT show up or the cases show up opened too many times to check them. Much less the tossing around they get when luggage handlers load and unload. I have traveled a lot with gear both domestic and international, so this comes from experience. I do like those light banks!

17:13 This kind of shot is such a pain in the ass for me. The subject is extremely close to the window, yet you need to light him from camera-left while getting a large enough light to overpower the sun. All of this, while still exposing for the Capitol. I avoid placing a big light source so close and above the subject, making these shots a pain for me to setup. The Lightbank made this look awesome and safe. They-->Lightbank
