Always admire how graceful you are against crazy decks and luck like the second one. You never complain, never give up, never let the fun get sucked out from Magic. Love your attitude Chords and a great model for the community.

Love these games - and especially your attitude - never sulking or getting upset, still have fun and keeping respect for the opponent. All while having high-quality game comments. I thought Builder's Talent was pretty bad, but this definitely changed my perspective. Thanks!

Always learn so much from your videos, whether gameplay or theory videos. You're currently my favourite source for draft content as a result. Im currently doing great in this format with my drafts being 7-2, 7-1, 0-3 (😢), 7-1, 3-3 (with a deck i thought was quite good), and currently 4-0 in my recent draft. I credit that definitely to some luck in the drafts and games, but also definitely from your/Mark's card reviews and gameplay tips.

10:48 i think the pick was shrike force here! With all those treeguard duos and builder talents getting twice the value out of buffing the shrike force, that would have made for some nasty life swings if the opponent lacked reach or removal

08:20 Something that I see a lot of players, at least locally, overlook is that the creature heaviness only matters for the colour of the land. For example, the only cards that line of text matters for in the final deck here are the Longstalk brawl and the Polliwallop. That's not to say it should have made the cut here, just that the way you framed it here passed over that. I've found surprisingly often those lands are a free include because the way the draft has gone one colour just ended up all creatures.

Yep totally, good distinction to make!

Don't forget Bakersbane Duo also makes a food. All of them count for Builder's Talent.

Yeah totally, not sure why I didn't when I did the count

Around 36.30 you played the green Duo to attack. He chumped with a token. Seems like a waste, wouldn't it be better with the Duo until you had a flyer with Feather?

Great content as always! Love the builders talent/carrot cake shenanigans. Was curious about your P1P4 - I would have gone for banishing light there as I see it as more 'flexibly good' compared to the host, which is 'situationally good', if that makes sense to you. Curious as to your reasoning on the pick, and would you make the same choice if it were arena open day 2?
@limitedlevel-upsАй бұрын
I'd would for sure make the same pick for the open, I think banishing light is solid but not amazing removal, and it doesn't take much to make host great, especially since a lot of the cards that make it good are good cards you want to draft anyways. Just too much upside on the host and doesn't take much to get there.

13:18 I don’t think this heuristic is quite right. The number of creatures vs non-creatures doesn’t matter. What matters is the number of green creatures vs green non-creatures (plus green activated abilities). Oakhollow Village is 100% as effective as a Forest at casting Builder’s Talent and Oblivion Ring, and if you had no green non-creatures it would be almost strictly better than Forest (with the exception of Sunspire Lynx). You have two spells and two activated abilities that punish Oakhollow Village: Polliwallop and Longstalk Brawl, plus double Thornvault Forager tutor activations. On the other hand these are generally all not early plays and you would have 10 sources that cast them between the 7 Forests, 1 Fountainport Bell, and the 2 Thornvault Foragers that let you still cast your two removal spells even with Plains and Oakhollow Village manascrew. I think swapping Forest for Oakhollow Village in this deck is very small risk and high upside with 13 creatures it could potentially buff.

Yep! totally agree, I oversimplfied a bit here

Would you mind making your video cuts a tad slower, as in literally just a second or two with the pack up before selecting your pick and talking about it? I like to pause and think about what I'd pick and I imagine I'm not alone, although I understand the opposing argument for quick videos.
@limitedlevel-upsАй бұрын
Yeah I think that's reasonable!

Any reason to not block both at 14:55?

Nope! Not sure why I didn't

Drafting green? What a surprise, it’s the only color I see in my games. This format is ass
@moocowp4970Ай бұрын
I mean, he's playing in Mythic, the good players known it's the best colour for this format. But most formats usually have a best colour and worst colour, and it doesn't mean there aren't any interesting choices in the draft or gameplay.
