Nick, does there ha e to be a story or a specific feeling to abstract art? Or are just random marks a feeling?
@LunaBea123 жыл бұрын
@art2life So with the excess paint that is left over I like to keep excess index cards and extra papers close by to lay on top to create new blobs or take saran wrap to lay over the excess paint and press gently to transfer it onto the wrap to place on other substrates. Last I may use a scraping tool or a brayer to lift the paint and spread across the new papers to make more new marks and the same can be done with the paper towel gently doing the same thing for your substrate. I have a hard time throwing leftover paints especially if they are good for another piece.

@@b.bailey8244 I still watch what I use and there are ways to extend paint gloss medium,airbrushmedium,gac100,retarder mediums to extend the quantity of paint without compromising pigment of paint. Water also can extend your paint yet often will reduce the paint pigment and vibrancy to where is often reduced. So much is experimentation. Color theory learning and using your primary paints to create the array of colors, once you begin to experiment the use of color is endless. I found a site that allows you to create colors that are carried by well known brands but in craft paint. Look on art stores sites often they will run sales on the premium brands. That is the time to buy either a tube,bottle in the color you may need. What I learned is by using certain amounts or paint you have the opportunity to create the layers you see and love,making marks and so much more, and at the end if there is left over I still create chaos layers(mixed of what is left) on pieces of paper for collage or a underpainting for future painting. If that is not a option regarding sales try craft paint just to explore until you get the brand paint. JoAnn,Michaels,HobbyLobby,Jerry'sArtorama,Blick and Utrect all have great sales if in USA. As a budding artist try not to let the finances deter you from creating,experiment,learn,and express,supplies you can obtain over time. I hope this helps you. I I had learned,watched videos,researched,practiced and these are things you will experience. Enjoy the process and the time creating. It will all work out for you.

@@b.bailey8244 If you are in the Unites States and have a store called pop shelf they carry a brand if acrylic paint called Monte Marte it is 2.00 a tube and it is a little thicker than a fluid craft paint and less heavy than a heavy body. Great pigments and they also carry craft paint there too. They have a online store as well. And Walmart carries a brand called Grumbacher and even their brand is really economical and highly pigmented. Hope this helps, it will be easy on your expenses and allow you to create. Get red.yellow blue,black and white and you can make dozens of colors from these combos

@@b.bailey8244 If I wanted to experiment with techniques like this I would use poster paints from the dollar store. But some of what he is doing is guided by principles of the colour wheel. It's not hard at all - get a book from the library and make swatches. A lot of art youtubers think it is less threatening ( or something) to tell beginners to "be free" or "play", but that depends on luck and can give disappointing results. There are principles you can easily learn behind the successful results.

Question: can you tell me what you have layered on top of your palete? It looks like paper towels. By the way, when I cleaned my palette using paper towels, I noticed there was a good deal of paint on them. I used them to create my 5th background. To tone down color, I then used a very pale pastel acrylic, rolling it with a brayer. 😊
@chrishodder5645 Жыл бұрын
Use baking paper. Get a container put some sponges in the bottom to fit, add water too them. Then add baking paper and you have created a wet palette, keeps your paint for ages if you have a lid on the container. Cheers Chris
