I like that you are frugal, you can cook things from scratch and can sew. A real role model for today’s young people who want to buy everything new. I wish I liked the cold weather, like it warmer, but I’m gonna try getting outside more in winter now that I am retired. It is good for the soul. Great video!

Brooke - my motto for outdoor gear has always been "buy once - cry once." I love my $700+ "Feathered Friends" sleeping bag (made in the good old USA). They are expensive bags, but once you spend a few miserable nights in a crummy bag you will gladly pay a few extra bucks for a good bag.

Look up lixada stainless camping cook cup pot. It has folding handles AND a bail handle for hanging it over the fire. I LOVE mine for my day pack.

Love wool socks and hot rocks in my sleeping bag when it's freezing out or snow camping. Love cotton pants too. I always check out thrift stores for them. I like my neck warmer too, I have gotten some fleece lined neck warmers lately.

Hi, you can sew a replacement cuff on your glove. They used to sell them at fabric stores. Don't know if they still do. Should be able to find them online. You could also try a cuff from some garment you are going to toss out.

I was a carpenter for many years in Northern Minnesota and I aways used Kinco gloves. Now that I have been retired for 10 years I still use them, theyare great. I use them when I'm deer hunting,shoveling snow,snowshoing,ice fishing or whatever.I am 75 and 2 other guys and I are planning winter camping trip, the fist weekend of March.We are all green horns at this, so thank you for the tips

Mukluks! Steiger ..... doesn’t get any better. Found out the hard way a million years ago in Alaska wearing bad boots, frost bite on my big toe. Ouch! Funny, my friends that I camped with for years called me 2 feathers, I had two red feathers I stuck in my hat one time, later I had the feathers hanging in my Dodge 3/4 ton van I drove for years.

Hey Brooke, Wife and I both have the Steger Mukluks. Had them for years. They are warm as all get out. I used them in the winter in my airplane with no heat. I needed to put in arch supports, but worked fine. We don't live far from Ely so drove over and picked out ours in their store. Was outside tonight on our lake skiing with Hok skiis under a full moon. Breathtaking. Love you and Bush Radical's channel. We would love to meet up with you guys some day. I love your mukluks and was issued a pair of them along with the rest of our Winter gear. I could not wear the parka and the mukluks since I worked on B-52 aircraft at Minot AFB, North Dakota and off duty this gear came in handy. I have a good sleeping bag which I got from Amazon and it is nice and didn't cost me a fortune, and I also purchased a good mat to go with it. All of my gear will go inside my backpack except for my sleeping bag and sleeping pad which I have attached to the back of my pack. You have a nice selection of Winter gear and perfect for camping out on land only. The cotton is bad to wear in Winter environment, but certain things I have to wear which is cotton even though I know it is difficult to stay warm once you get wet in the snow, and ice.

Love it as always. I use much of the same gear. I mix up traditional gear and new high tec gear on my trips. Have to go with what works. Definitely will be getting me a pair of the boots for sure. Or a sweat shirt cuff. I was even thinking a thrift store glove make a leather cuff. For each side. I use welding gloves when using our wood stove between burns and splinters. I ran out of bandaids!

Hello Brooke, I really agreed what you said in the video, a good paire of boots a decent axe , Dave Canterbury liked the Norland too , a good saw and other good woodland craft tools , strong cooking and drinking utensils are a must , so is clothes you can breathe in and still be warm in , and you don't have to pay a lot of money if you know where to look.

I love my red wool coat, I have a red and black buffalo check one to with fleece lining.

I have a Wiggys combo kit sleeping bag system I bought here in Anchorage. The lightweight little bag is rated to 30 degrees I believe. And in its stuff sack packs down smaller than a bowling ball. And then the outer bag when put over the inner bag brings the system down to -40° and both of them in their stuff sack isSmaller than your marmot bag and half the price. But they will also keep you warm even if you sleep out in open rain
