I'm sure you know that Sennheiser is where to go for open back, but preference may vary. So he is not wrong in saying that they're really good, they are just good in a different way. Preference

I've had a pair of the Audio Technicas for maybe 6-7 years now, they still work great although the pads and headband are all scuffed and pure fabric. Passive noise cancellation is a bit lost, but that's to be expected with the outer coating wearing off.

Been using the WH-1000xM3 for almost 3 weeks now and all i can say is Sony really did listen to the comments of their consumers. It is a big improvement from the last version that they have, for me that makes it the best NC Headphone this year. Very nice, but on previous advice from you I now am the very satisfied owner of three very nice headphones that I used for three purposes. 1 I have my Bowerrs & Wilkins P7 for music and internet videos, 2. I have a set of Bang and Olufsen H9's for my online math tutoring 3. I have my trusted monitor set of Audio-Technica ATH-M50x's that I use for editing my videos for my KZbin channel. The sound quality of all of these has been excellent for their respective uses and for the money, I don't think you could have given better advice. I am a fan and a student, even though I old enough to be your Dad lol :) Thanks for all you do keep them coming. Great job as always.

Er. They are good. But the best money can buy? I'm not so sure about that. I've listened to some Stax headphones recently, and they did sound rather impressive. Grado is fine, though the comfort is terrible. And I'm sure the Sennheiser Orpheus does sound good too. In terms of noise cancelling I might agree, though I certainly haven't listened to everything on the market, and I doubt you have either. :)

Wow, 40 hours of audio?! That's amazing. I bought a cheap $5 earplug and it's got 2 hours of playtime. To be fair it is the smallest earplug I could find, which is perfect for hiding at work (they banned listening to music at my job), and for 5 bucks it's actually really worth it (even though the build quality is inconsistent). But I might look into getting an expensive pair of headphones. I'd get wireless but only if it also had the option for a 3.5mm jack as well.

I have several sport headphones, and when I bought the Apple Airpods I had no intention to use those for workouts. Who knew they are so light, so convenient and that they actually never fall out when I go for a run - I only use them for workouts now.

Not saying I agree with them but they gave reasoning for that. They aren't as concerned with people getting crappy usb-c cables to charge their headphones as they are for their more expensive and power demanding computers. They've said before something along the lines of the usb-c situation being a mess (it is) with not all cables having the same capability to charge or data transfer sufficiently. Such as how thunderbolt 3 is usb-c but not all usb-c cables are thunderbolt 3. With that said, I still think it was a horrible move for them to omit but I can see their logic

I recently tried both of them, I agree 100%. If the QC35s are 10/10 noise cancelling and 7-8/10 sound, then the mx3s are 9/10 noise cancelling and 10/10 sound. Easy choice.

The quiet comfort is better for neutral taste. 1000xm3s are more fun leaning on V shaped audio. None of you are going to be editing for flat sound so forget it. Bose doesn't support aptx HD or LDAC audio codecs. Plus the control the Sony app allows is pretty damn up there. I own a pair of Monoluth M1060, Massdrop 6XX, 58x Jubilees, and Sennheiser HD 599. They all destroy both these Bluetooth headphones, especially through an amp. The Sonys are more fun. Period.

Also, I don't know how strong the M3s are but I own a pair of MDR-1000X and they're great overall, but the one thing I hate is the build quality. The inner plastic on each side of the headband tends to brake after some time and there aren't many places/websites where you can get a replacement. And I take better care of my headphones than my mum, if you search around forums you'll see that this was a design flaw, as there are a lot of people with the same issue. To think they used to retail for $400... jeez

If you want comfort, go for the surfaces, if you want nearly the same comfort and epic noise cancelling, go for the Sony's. Sounds quality is nearly equal for both, but the Sony headphones have more equalizer options.
