How to use our Favorite Zero Waste Dish Block
We’ve had so many people asking about how to use the dishwashing block, so here goes!
As you’re probably aware, plastic packaged detergents can be horrible for the environment. Not only do they come packed in plastic but they’re often filled to-the-brim with harsh chemicals.
This block is vegan friendly, last for ages and is plastic-packaging free!
In this video I show you 2 main ways to use it.

Hi when you say it last 4 to 5 months what do you mean when you make it in to a liquid or the bar of soap it self ?

Tips (for those new to the concept of less waste): 1.Wash your dishes in order from cleanest to dirtiest; soap and scrub a bunch of the cleaner stuff, then rinse it so the soapy water runs over and into the dirtier stuff. 2. Sometimes I put a bit of very hot water (that happens to be on the stove) onto the dishes to help speed the cleaning before I start. This diminishes the need to add water while cleaning, and prevents washing away soap that would otherwise help clean. 3. Wipe out really greasy stuff with a paper towel (it shouldn't go down the drain in most places), or if you have chickens (etc) you can use a bit of flour to absorb the grease, then feed that calorie rich mixture to the compost that is sent to the chickens. 4. Avoid letting any grease or oil from other pots get on plastic dish-ware. it is particularly hard to clean grease from plastic compared to metal or pottery. 5. For the extreme: Since I started eating just two bigger meals a day, we have fewer dishes to wash (less time spent cooking too)

Just got mine the other day, I love it. I can't usually wash dishes because I'm allergic to the soaps. I'm giving this a try, so far it does a great job on the dishes.

Hi, I’m excited to try this bar, as my last one I tried didn’t really clean oil very well. I just wanted to know if you have a recommendation for a waste free shampoo and conditioner?

I am hoping you can help me, I'm having a lot of trouble with the residue left on the dishes with mine. Mainly my cuttlery and anything plastic or glass look dirty when they dry! It is really overwhelming me as I struggle to complete everyday tasks as it is. I have tried everything, looked at many different bars but they all have the same ingredients so I don't think that will help. I don't know what I am doing wrong here and I am ready to give up :(

Does your cheese taste like soap after you grate it on the same grater as the soap?😉

Have you found a good soap to water ratio with the grate method? Through your experience, do you think that block grated with hot water could mix well enough to be put into a dishsoap bottle/pump?

Honestly, I wing it 🤣 I tend to do this at end when my block is tiny or breaks into small pieces, I find it a lot easier. Sometimes it's best to add the water after and you can experiment with the amount (a lot less water than you think!)
