In the Puzzle after 1.Nxe6 fxe6 2. Ba6! Looks good, threatening to take on b7 hitting c6 and a8 2… bxa6 gets Qxc6+ intending Qxa8 and 2…. O-O-O 3.Qxc6 bxa6 and it’s open season on the black king.

Hi Igor! I struggle to play against the English defence and saw a gambit line once but I don't know if it has a name. Would love to know what you think, the moves are: 1. c4 e5 2. Nc3 d5 3. cxd5 c6 4. dxc6 Nxc6. It is worth playing or are there much better gambits to try against the English?

A good way to decline the Danish Gambit is 3...d5. There are also 3...d3 and 3...Qe7.

I though the standard way for Black to decline the gambit was 1. e4 e5 2. d4 exd4 3. c3 d5 though.

What about playing d6 before developing the king knight for black (following an early Bb4 to pin the knight on c3)? That seems to serve me well against this as black. White never manages to find any working tactics and I end up a pawn up in the endgame.

But you didn't talk about 1. e4 e5 2. d4 exd4 3. c3 Qe7 and looks like black is marginally better.
