Great video! Thank you for sharing! I got my dads old AV-1 that he used in the 80's and I usually shoot 3-4 rolls a year with it, on vacations, travels and when meeting up with friends and family. Iv'e got a 50mm 1:1.4 lens on it that's just amazing! I usually shoot with ISO-200 outdoors and ISO-400 indoors. I just love the AV-1 camera and the analoge photos. No algorithms, no AI, no "social media" platforms stealing my information. Just one, single physical copy to store in a photo album for me to enjoy with my friends and loved ones 🙂

Nice video, the AV stands for Apature Value, it was the first aperture priority camera from Canon to compete with the Pentax and Minolta's.

Hi! I just bought the Canon av-1 and I have never been shooting film before! I was wondering if you have any tips on how to read the light meter. Should I always try to have it in the middle to make sure not to overexpose or underexpose my pictures? Would love if you could make a video of how to think when shooting with the AV-1. Mostly exposure settings and also F/stop settings. Love the video!

The top and bottom covers are plastic with an electro less copper plating and a chrome electro plating on top. I recommend the A-1, if you like the FD system.
@caldera8784 жыл бұрын
The Canon AV-1 outer shell is actually made of plastic not aluminum or metal. Canon electroplated a thin metal plating onto the plastic to make it trick consumers into thinking it was a premium product. The rest of the Canon A-series like the AE-1 was also the same because Canon was cutting costs with the manufacturing of these cameras.

Mostly true! The A-1 has a metal upper.

Canon A-series cameras are microprocessor controlled. They need current for everything. They may look mechanical but that is just the user interface.

Hi! I have the same camera with the 50mm 1.8. I've been using the lens with and adapter to fuji and now I'm not able to make the aperture blades move when the lens is on the Canon AV and it's always wide open (then in my fuji everything works fine) Any advice? Thank you!

😉👍 I also went back to shooting analog, there is just so many details you get with a analog Camera and you her a lot of operation options you dont get with digital cameras... Rigth now i got a old Nikon l35 ( point &shoot) AT-1 and a AV-1 and my big Canon a old big Canon EF ( heavy artillery) Best thing about these cameras is THE qualety and all the different operation options you get, you can manipulate light/shadow shutter timer ect and the end result always is WAY BETTER then these new crap digital cameras.

what are the best settings for light and dark settings? also how do you avoid blurry photos when you can’t control the shutter speed?
@wildcamcraig4 жыл бұрын
So the general rule is never have your shutter speed slower than your focal length. For example if you're shooting at 50mm (full frame) then don't have your shutter slower than 1/50. If you're shooting at 250mm, don't have your shutter slower than 1/250. If the shutter is too slow then you can either open the aperture wider to let more light in and it'll get faster or you can lie to the camera and enter a higher ISO value than the film actually is. That way the camera will use a faster shutter speed and, although the photos will be darker, they can be developed and processesd to lighten up. Hope this helps!
