Halo 2 doesn't have fall damage, it has a fall timer like Halo 3. Either you die from falling too long, which happens before you touch the ground, or you take no damage.

Reminds me of a moment in halo 3 many years ago on 360. I was playing with my brother and we decided to take a hornet together on Legendary for fun. He piloted and i was on the side. I jumped off, Albiet accidentally, as the hornet exploded and a banshee came up right below me so I managed to hijack it and survive. Best moment I've ever had and have never been able to replicate it making me believe it was a one in a million or more chance.
