I bought my Relay back in June and loved riding it all summer around Colorado and Utah, no issues until I hit about 240 miles on it. The motor was hardware version 2.0. It started making a horrible grinding noise like a coffee grinder on a climb and I contacted Transition in Bellingham where I bought the bike. They were fantastic! Had one on a shelf ready to go, and I had it replaced the next day. Version 5 motor hardware now. So far no new issues. Sounds a lot quieter and seems to be running a lot smoother.

Interesting! My original motor was Hardware version 2 as well and gave out around 200ish miles! I noticed with the new hardware version it does seem to be a lot better and more quiet!

My Pivot SL now has 1200 miles and without shutting off once and with the original motor, I throughly enjoy this bike. It does have the latest controller ring that was properly installed (don’t over torque and position correctly) with new one up bars. Also, I have properly retorqued and greased the motor mounts according to Pivot’s exact procedure and overall the motor is dead quite with normal whining and no clicking of any kind. The bike also has the latest software and with “Mountainbike” profile, which makes the bike ride perfectly and with good range. Your replacement motor likely rides differently because the profile is not the same. I suggest you try mine.

Below the battery, there are 2 wires connecting. If it‘s not plugged properly, disconnects can happen on impacts, happened to me when after i slided the motor out i didn‘t properly connect it. Also clean the battery connector and the connector on bike side just to be sure :)
@Chris-505Ай бұрын
Thank you for sharing! I definitely have been prudent about cleaning off the battery connector on both sides but for the 2 wires under the battery I will tape them together with some electrical tape!

@@Chris-505could you solve it? :)
@YngveSjoАй бұрын
I run a velcro strap around the metal bracket holding the battery, that helped a lot. But also check the wiring 👍

I also have the transition relay, I bought it back in March. So far it’s been pretty good other than occasionally turning off. I guess that’s just part of this motor. The bike I had before had a Shimano motor and I don’t recall that one ever shutting off. Like you, I plan to keep this bike long-term, so we’ll see how that goes.

I went through a Ride 60 about a year ago. Have over 1000 km on the bike since. Works fine. The only thing it does do is turn off randomly. Seems to happen after time out from sitting. Then it starts up. Then it doesn't. Just restarting seems to make it behave. Didn't notice any performance issues between the old and new motor but I use a custom power curve.

I own a 2024 Heckler SL with 1750 miles on the original Fazua motor. Not one single problem! Never have I heard any rattle, so it appears that Santa Cruz has secured the connections/battery well. I live and ride high in the rocky mountains of Colorado, so the bike never encounters warm or hot stuations. Electric motors don't like heat. My guess is that is the weakness of this motor, as the bottom radiator is much smaller than similar motor designs and can have flash cooling from water crossings.
@Chris-505Ай бұрын
@@paulmaag6958 interesting! I wonder also if it’s because yours is a newer motor. When I bought mine I noticed the Motor was made in Jan 2023 so I’m wondering since then the changes they have made! But yeah I totally agree with you because I didn’t run into any issues until it got warmer out

Mt friend has had nothing but problems with his Heckler and now finally got his motors replacement. So, it just seems to be when the motors was produced and not the brand its on

@@SidiNic yeah it might be that all the earlier motors that were originally put on the bikes from factory might be duds

sorry about all your fazua issues. my pivot sl just hit 1500miles on the original motor. kinda hope the motor burns out before the 2yr warranty is up. lol

how are you tracking your miles? I just had my first ride today on my new Relay and the motor shut off twice, when it did the app just stopped so even though I rode 19km it never showed any stats in the app.

@ I usually track it though the FAZUA app. That’s weird that yours didn’t record at all…

Good info. I have a version 2 motor that had torque sensor issue in less than 80km and now I’m waiting for the new motor as well. Could you share where FAZUA stated the new motor comes with a refreshed 2 year warranty?
@jerryshoe7302Ай бұрын
I’ve tested at least a dozen E-bikes in the last six months. The only bikes to shut off while riding, have been the ones powered by Fazua,(Relay, Heckler SL). Despite that issue, the Relay is still my favorite. The guy at the shop where I rented the Relay said it was a somewhat common issue because people were accidentally hitting the ring controller. I say BS. I know I wasn’t hitting the controller. Fazua needs to address this issue.
@Chris-505Ай бұрын
Interesting! I thought it would only be the Relay that had shut off issues as the battery is removable. I do agree it sucks when you’re going through a rock garden and you go to pedal and then there’s no power. Something I did notice on my test ride is it was happening at first then after the first hour it stopped auto shutting off. Not sure if it’s sensor related or something?

I just got a relay and it immediately has the shut off problem in rough terrain. Does anybody have a fix? Even if I put a strap around the battery cover it will happen even in a big curb. I’m super irritated by it and I called Transition and they acted like it wasn’t a common or known issue. Which as I see it clearly is. This is an expensive bike that loses power in any sort of rough terrain. What in the actual F%$k! Please tell me somebody has a fix. Is it a loose connection bc I’ve messed with the battery and it seems seated just fine. And it turns back on after about 30 seconds after it shuts off. So frustrated and I’ve had the it a week.
