Nice image, good video. Brutal winters are common I believe. Here in Wisconsin a high number of cloudy nights and temps ranging down from 15F above to 20F below. Learned that below -20C things don’t work so well, like mounts, computers and my fingers. The range of images were not bad given that this year concentrated on at least 6 hours of integration if not 10 hours per target. Seems to have made a difference in quality, but not as much as you might think. Galaxy season is always tough as it pushes all the equipment hard with long focal lengths and need for perfect polar aligning (easy now with iPolar) and perfect guiding. Carry on and clear skies. Thanks for the great fun job you do in Astrophotography.

I really shouldn't complain about my winters, they're nothing compared to folks like you with actual weather to deal with. But yeah, galaxy season is tough for a lot of people. Thanks for visiting the channel? 🙂

Winter in Northern Europe hasn't been good for much astrophotography this season either. Lots of cloud cover and not many clear night between September and February. But, those nights where it has been clear, I've been able to do a lot of new targets and also adding more data to existing targets. Kind of bummed that the season is ending soon (from May til August the skies are blue at night), maybe I should look into Solar... hmm? I really enjoy your videos Angus. They feel so relatable, welcoming and casual.

Thank you! Please look forward to a bit of a change in the near future, I'd like for my videos to be a bit more of educational, so I hope I can achieve that. I'm glad you were able to image a lot of new targets! 🙂

Really nice result. Winter here in the UK has been awful with near constant cloud cover but I have enjoyed using my new L-Extreme filter on the odd clear night.

That's fantastic! How are you liking that L-eXtreme filter?

Winter season was awesome. I got a new doublet I love. Not too excited about Galaxy season because I’m not prepared. The planets come back around soon tho. Nice video. Enjoyed it.

Oh which doublet did you get?! Most people aren't ready for the galaxy season, so don't sweat it. 🙂

👍Thanks for your videos and good luck in the future. My season has gone well, a new iOptron GEM28 mount here allowed for ASCOM control and plate solving in SharpCap Pro aiding making an eleven hour multiple night imaging of M42/43.

Here (Brisbane, down under) summer season has been no good, "La nina" weather pattern has punished us for months, with monsoon like rain, overcast skies, and lots of humidity. Despite this, I've managed to get some data of Eta Carina, Tarantula nebula, and these days I'm using the l-extreme (in an Evoguide50+QHY183) to image the Vela supernova remnants. The good thing in the southern hemisphere is that galaxy season is almost all year, with plenty of these objects to shoot: Fornax (gone for the year, but take a look at NGC1365 when you get a chance), Dorado (NGC1566!), and Sculptor (already gone), to name a few. Now waiting for Centaurus Galaxies to be high enough for imaging (Centaurus A which is big, NGC4845 aka tweezers Gxy), centaurus chain and many more. You got a really nice image. Thanks for your video, keep them coming!

Thanks! It's awesome to hear the different targets available to you in the southern hemisphere! I wish I could experience your night sky! 🙂
