It looks like the dwarf 3 has come a long way from the dwarf 2 model. By the way some of those moons around Jupiter move enough where if you did a stop motion capture every 10 minutes you should be able to see and capture motion around the planet. The dwarf proves that all of these smart telescopes would be best served having two cameras.
@Nordictor7819 күн бұрын
This is awesome, BUT I'm starting to get sceptical to these "smart" telescopes and cellphone after Samsung was busted by their AI technology. As soon as their phone discovered the moon you got crisp pictures of the moon, since their AI gathered pictures of the moon from databases. I have the nikon p1000 and have taken lots of pictures of the moon, and it's not easy to take crisp pictures even with tripod. Now dwarf3, do they do the same as samsung? It is awesome technology, no doubt, but if the AI "cheat" then it lowers the wow factor. It's like fossil hunting. It's not the same if someone just hand you their extra fossil since you didn't find any.

@AstroForumSpaceАй бұрын
Hello! The auto-focus feature works well for capturing the Sun, Moon, and stars in deep-sky images. You can easily zoom in on the stars and fine-tune the focus using the plus/minus keys. However, it doesn't provide numerical data like the half flux radius (HFR).

@AstroForumSpaceАй бұрын
Good question, In my sun capture, you can see that light comes through the ND solar glasses. Ideally, you’d want the lenses pointing with the solar glasses on to capture the darks, maybe just before you start your session, using the same shutter and gain settings as the temperature would be similar to your light frames.

@nurolkurtАй бұрын
if you compare it to the seestar s50 which one is better for astro deep sky etc ?
@AstroForumSpaceАй бұрын
That could definitely be a whole new video! 😊 The Seestar offers a slightly better image scale and resolution, while the Dwarf 3 gives you a wider field of view for larger objects. The app experience is different too, and EQ mode isn’t available on the Seestar S50 yet, though you can purchase wedges to help with polar alignment. Overall, both telescopes provide great value, with the Seestar S50 better for smaller DSOs and the Dwarf 3 ideal for larger ones. This is just the tip of the iceberg, though! 😊

@@cloudkat9475 those are raw pixels. Due to a smaller FOV and a larger aperture, Seestar produces a sharper image with more definition. That is most obvious if you would crop the Dwarf 3 image/data to the same FOV as the Seestar on the same target and compare how it looks.

silly question maybe but why isn't this ideal for photographing planets?
@AstroForumSpaceАй бұрын
To observe planets, it's important to note that they all appear less than one arcminute in size from Earth, which is about 1/30th the size of the moon. Because of this, you'll need a telescope with a large aperture to gather enough light and a long focal length to achieve the magnification required for clear views of the planets. An astroscope with a 35mm focal length? really? that's a smartphone. The sensor is 7.5mm wide. They could have put the lamest of eastern european 100$ 500mm mirror lens on it and it would have been 100x more powerful. Then it would actually have been a potent product. The sensor is small so it only gives you a section of the lens's view but because the pixel sensitivity is state of the art it's a quite capable combination. Try again, Dwarf. Do better
@AstroForumSpace10 күн бұрын
The focal length is 150mm, and the aperture is 35mm, giving you an image scale of about 3 arcseconds per pixel with a planetary camera. While this is slightly higher than the typically recommended 1 to 2 arcseconds per pixel for deep-sky imaging, it’s still very usable for capturing nice photos of the night sky. You can definitely take some share-worthy astro photos that go far beyond what you can see with the naked eye!

In my opinion, a 3840 × 2160 (8.29 MP) image is so low resolution that daydreams of large high resolution prints are just wishful thinking. I’m also suspicious of a telescope that can also be used for landscape and wildlife photography. What? No macro photography option? Sounds to me like the cliche, “Jack of all trades, master of none.” I’m going to wait for independent reviews before I decide to spend 0.5 Thousand Dollars to purchase this item. I suspect user reviews will expose advertising hype.
@AstroForumSpaceАй бұрын
It's important to understand that in astrophotography, it's not just about the 8MP resolution-image scale plays a key role. This telescope achieves 2.75 arcseconds per pixel, which is slightly beyond the ideal 1-2 arcseconds per pixel often suggested for deep-sky astrophotography, but not by much. When it comes to prints, you can always rescale the image to match the resolution needed for high-quality output. For comparison, I also use a 26MP cooled astrophotography camera that delivers better results, but it comes with a $1,500 price tag-just for the camera. Lastly, I want to reiterate that I did not receive any compensation for this review. The opinions I share in the video are my own, and I make a point to thoroughly explain what this product can do. Therefore, I find it unfair that you're questioning the integrity of my review. I encourage you to conduct your own research to find the gear that best suits your needs. There are many paths to getting started with astrophotography, and affordable smart telescopes are a valid option for those looking to avoid the steep learning curve of traditional setups.
