I am born and raised in Southern California...most of my life in Huntington Beach. If money was no object I would live in San Clemente. But now being retired we moved to Sun City CA which is nice and quiet. Try looking at Temecula. It's wine country with wide open spaces. My husband is a musician and gigs at many of the wineries. Temecula is a quaint feeling city with lots of artsy people. Just wanted to throw out a couple of places that I know about and think you would enjoy. Such a good idea to rent and get a feel for an area. So excited for this next chapter in your DIY journey 💜💙💚💛🧡

Orange County is great. I love it and miss it. Especially Hunting Beach so so much. Don’t let agents rush you into a new home. We were rushed and had to make a decision on a house while we were on a family vacation in Hawaii for a wedding. So much needs to be done and we have to hire out.

I love how effortlessly you make creating artwork seem. You can make anything look good. That compound art was so nice. So weird how Americans sell houses with all the furniture n ‘white goods’. In aus, unless a buyer really wanted the stuff and paid extra, we keep everything but the curtains, unless of course that was stated before purchase that it wasn’t included. I’d be so sad to let all my amazing diy artwork go. Totally have to keep that big wood one you did.

It’s interesting to see how things are done in different countries. Here in Scotland you put the property up for the least you’re willing to accept, an ‘offers over’ system, and pray for a bidding war. In England you put it on for a higher price and usually get offers under that value, or used to before Covid. But, yeah, you take everything but the flooring and white goods with you. It’s a funny ole world

I've lived in five different US states and in my experience it is not standard to sell with furniture. I've honestly never even heard of someone doing that unless it's someone who needs to downsize, such as an older person moving into a smaller home or a care facility, and even then it's an extra cost in the contract. Some people will leave the fridge/laundry but even that might be a contracted cost and if not it's just luck of the draw.

Oh my gosh the OC lol. As a native I can tell you it’s expensive. I just don’t care for all the fast lane life there anymore. I grew up in OC when it was still mostly orange groves the smell of orange blossoms at night in the summers was heavenly. I lived in the desert too no more of that heat. You’ve done an amazing job on the house can’t wait to see your new adventure.
