I can tell Leigh probably hasn't seen Advent Children from her reaction to Roche on his motorcycle. "That's not what vehicles do!" would've totally been her reaction to Cloud's motorcycle fight with Kadaj, Loz, and Wazoo.

You didn't pay attention! President Shinra very clearly signaled Heidegger to trigger an intentional demolition of the reactor after Jessie's explosive merely took out a small portion. The large-scale destruction was Shinra's own doing to paint Avalanche as destructive eco-terrorists. And this very detail plays into the added tragedy of Jessie's death...because she goes on thinking that SHE botched the bombs and caused all that damage and hurt all those innocents....but it wasn't her bomb.

If anyone's still wonder why Sephiroth shows up so frequently in Remake, well...have you heard of the "Jaws effect"? That played a part in Sephiroth's grand reveal near the end of Disc 1 in the original. His role in the story was completely unknown up until we saw his sword in President Shinra's back. It's like how we waited until we finally saw the big shark. ...Of course, these days, things have changed. Sephiroth is VERY well known now, so the Jaws effect wouldn't have worked again. Thus, Remake gave him a very different role, as a recurring horrific presence. A nightmare hounding our every step.

I played the original in 1997 on the first pc. This game is a unique story in the world of video games. I liked this remake even more. Excellent video.

I wanted to mention about your comment, the original FF7 97' Cloud was a writing tool, pretty much a blank slate to showcase the other characters. No memory, only opinions are the ones that the player gives. The main characters actually create cloud, Tifa (friendship, loyalty), Aerith (love, sacrifice), Barret (camaraderie , family), Sephiroth (purpose, meaning), Red 13 (identity, religion, a soul), Cait Sith (guilt, regret, redemption), etc Cloud is meant to bring the plot front and center, it literally takes his death and rebirth to make him the Cloud we know at the end, that goes and saves the planet and defeats those in the way. The cloud in the remake has a lot more personality, but at his heart the developers still are leaving him as a 'reflection' of the main characters as he is built. Well his loss of memory is also tinged with a hint of a past moment in a "another life" then just his past, one that both Aerith and Sephiroth both seem to know a little more then they are letting on. Love the drama!

If you want a super-emotional game with super-fun gameplay, fantastic visuals, and jaw-dropping music, try Ori and the Blind Forest, and its sequel, Ori and the Will of the Wisps. Don't play it on Hard Mode, though, because it'll probably murderize you even on Normal.

You spend all this time gushing about music and who's pretty.....which is fine, but....the NPCs in this game received so much attention to their number and individuality as well as the countless voice actors because of the primary theme of this game, and especially the revamped decision to highlight the human fallout of the events......characters have things to say! and they say them to immerse you and drive the major theme of the game home. But you just dismiss their dialogue and design to see more Tifa. Imagine being an actor for this thing, and you see some player like yourself just blow right past you..."Move!" and...they're forgotten. But they actually had things to say....takes just a second to listen.

That's the issue with background details like that. They enhance immersion, but don't stand out even if they're done well, and it doesn't make for great highlight reel material either. But still... I was staggered at the amount of recorded NPC dialogue in this game. It's truly immense. I don't think anyone will ever hear all of it in one playthrough unless they're very deliberate and systematic about it. I can say in the fallout of the first Mako reactor explosion it really helped drive the weight of that event home for me.
