I was in Odesa last year during the first drone attack. It was surreal. Then when I was in Odesa earlier this year, it was calm (except for alarms), but the power was only on for a few hours each day. The week after I left, my fiancée saw a rocket or drone explode from her balcony window and decided finally to come to USA with me. She's been here since June. After the war, we plan to move back to Ukraine together.

Johnny, I'm kind of sad to see you leave Ukraine, but I understand you're under a lot of stress and that isn't good, and if you are able to get away then you should. The clips of the doggos are so very cute and your friend is so nice to send them to you. I can't imagine living my life without a pet, it seems so lonely. I have a 9 yr old greyhound we rescued from the track when she was 2, we also foster other dogs occasionally as well, it helps with loneliness.

Russian city of Odessa was founded on September 2, 1794 and built by Osip Mikhailovich Deribas, Admiral of the Russian Black Sea Navy in the lands of Novorossiya according to the rescript of the Russian Empress Catherine II. On August 22 (September 2), 1794, the city of Odessa was founded on the site of the Turkish fortress of Hadjibey.Russian detachment led by Major General O. M. Deribas stormed the Turkish fortress of Hadjibey on September 14 (25), 1789 during the Russo-Turkish War of 1787-1791. After the Peace of Iasi in 1791 Hadjibey finally retreated to Russia.Soon, by decree of Catherine II, the issue of building a port and a city on the Black Sea was raised. Three projects were presented: Ochakov, Kinburn, Hadjibey. In favor of the latter were: an excellent raid in the bay, favorable soils for anchorage, the possibility of year-round navigation, the absence of strong currents. On May 27 (June 7), 1794, Vice Admiral Deribas received a rescript from the Empress, commanding him to proceed with the foundation of the city on the site of the Turkish fortress of Hadjibey. The rescript said: "We hope that you will not only fulfill Our good assumption, but that, knowing how flourishing trade will contribute to the welfare of the people and the enrichment of the state, taking care that the city you are building represents to traders not only a safe haven from bad weather, but protection, encouragement, patronage and, in a word, all dependent on you their business benefits; through which, no doubt, as our trade in those places will flourish, so this city will soon be filled with inhabitants."The rescript also approved the first architect of Odessa, F. P. Devolan. On August 22 (September 2), 1794, with the blessing of Metropolitan Gabriel of Yekaterinoslav and Tauride in the presence of Deribas and Devolan, the solemn laying of the city was held.On this day, the foundations of a Large pier, a small jetty (harbor for rowing vessels), boathouses and a shipyard for repairing government ships, two marinas from the embankment for convenient docking of merchant ships, two churches in the name of St. Nicholas and St. Catherine and the first furrow was made for the foundations of urban buildings. Later, the construction of a quarantine building, a customs office, an admiralty store, a hospital, a cathedral church, a magistrate and a house for the chief began.

With your historical logic, Moscow should belong to the Mongolians, and China should use that loophole to invade Russia and take your cities in 2024.
