Thanks for sharing and being so honest. I agree with you regarding the pay issues. (I'm not a doctor), but I'm very supportive of all medical staff getting fair pay for the incredible work you/they do. You're doing great, sweetheart big hugs to you .❤❤

Wow. I can’t believe you earn so little. Googled the starting Dr wage here in Australia. Apparently it’s $177000. Time to move? 🤔 Mostly commenting so the algorithm pays you what you deserve.

I’m so pleased you’ve had a positive experience in your first few months of F1. I had a ROUGH first rotation; frequently left alone to look after 30 patients spread over 5 wards, 12 days in a row, assessing unwell patients on my own etc. (my second rotation was so much better 🙏🏻) Thankfully it seems like a lot has changed from 2014 and I’m so here to continue watching your journey 🫶🏻

Congrats Faye 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉 You are such a humble, loving and very involved doctor, who actually cares for people - which it's becoming a raretly nowadays. Could not agree 💯💯💯 with you more : when politics interfere in people's health and sometimes life - especially by these so called "health laws" , coming from People who have nothing To do with this area. The inequality of payment in health sector and the hours medics and nurses puts definitely 💯 a Big shock. Currently in my country the people from medical field started massive protests and threatened to including block the health care because of so law salaries. Take care Faye and keep fallowing your Passion ❤❤❤❤

Thank you! Sorry I know the weekly/daily vlogs are more popular but filming around work/not being able to film at work/editing means I really can’t do more than 1 every 1-2 months :( even if I send the footage to an editor, there ends up being so many footage it’s a full time job sending it over AND I’m sooooo picky about how the vlogs are edited, I just haven’t found away to make it work :(

Do you not think PAs are placed on an unfair high level on the AfC ladder? The government is never going to bump everyone else's pay up by what I think would be fair.

To the point of envisioning death, I think thats actually some psychological phenomena. I have something similar maybe, sometimes I get really really sad/anxious that my partner will die, or my parents etc. And like imagining the world without them as a bit more sad and not that kind. And to be fair it's a horrible experience, but maybe our brains do that because they want to prepare us for that? I don't know :D.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts. Just thought I'd offer an alternative perspective. People often state that if you're intellectually capable of becoming a doctor then you could easily carve out a high paying career in other industries. To this I say the grass is always greener. As somebody who has years of experience in my once high paying field, I have been struggling to find employment in this current economy - not just in my niche, but literally any job at this point, I've applied to them all. Not only is work harder to come by, but the lack of job security is so hard to live with. Plus AI is making huge unprecedented strides across various industries too, slowly reducing the need for jobs in these areas. In healthcare at least, and excuse my ignorance, this isn't too much of a worry. Nurses and doctors have some of the most secure jobs a person can have.

I really hope you guys get more fairly compensated for your role in the healthcare system soon wow. You should come to aus our pay and work culture is so much better! Increasing NP scope and independance in aus might mean we are heading in the same direction as you guys soon though :/

Whilst the starting Salaries for PA's are higher there is little room for progression in pay as you are restricted to band 7- bottom of band 8 at a push and most doctors will be earning more as soon as they hit speciality training. I just wanted to add that as I felt it was missing from that section, 100% agree with you that all staff should have access to fair pay!

Faye I would love to know your opinion on nursing salary as well. Here in AUS nurses are being paid I would say f all for all the tasks + stress and all the things you have mentioned above. Even in a speciality which requires more acute care and more critical thinking you get paid the same as a regular nurse. I just feel like although yes 100% doctors should be rewarded financially but in some counties such as Australia - they are but the nursing staff are not 😆
