I have the same Craftsman. Put it through hell for 15 years, still working

I got the same Dremel for almost 10 years still working great. My local RONA store sells the brushes and many other accessories for Dremel.

The struggle you showed almost makes me want to inaugurate an electrical tool brush passageway cleaning/maintenance routine!

The windings on these love to break off just where the brush housing clips on. I had to undo one winding and prise it back into the terminal.

Of COURSE we want to see your frustration in opening it - because that's how we would be too. Us subscribers are sadistic like that. 😈

I got a Dremel. Not sure if it's like that. I got it over 10 years ago. I used it a few times. To cut a hole in the wall, and to grind down vacuum cleaner wheels that were rubbing. Interesting to see the guts there.

The stator coils do fail, breaking off at the connection, necessitating taking off a turn and re-terminating it. The cause is likely due to work hardening of the enamelled copper wire, due to vibration.
