i think this hot swap stuff should be the real future of EVs, all manufacturers should have a stock battery standard, pretty much like USB-C but it's the whole battery, you charge the battery at home and when you need a quick refil just stop at one of these and change the battery in 5 minutes, sure this needs infrastructure on the scale of country wide gas station infrastructure but don't think it's impossible in the future.

But tbh battery swap is more needed in main/interstate highways - not major cities. In cities (commuting), we are expecting home or office charging. So far commuting is feasible with electric vehicle. Much easier too since no longer need to make a trip to fueling station. The issue is when need to do longer trip.

I have some questions regarding this vehicle. Can this car use any of the superchargers by Tesla? Also, when you swap battery from your, suppose new car, don't you swap to an older battery (with same kWh), won't you then feel the consumption is higher because battery has been used so much? Also what are your thoughts on resale value in the coming years? Will it be difficult to sell this if NIO fails to improve their upcoming cars?

And anyone with a CCS port can access it using the Tesla app. I will test NIO at the Supercharger when I get the chance. Swapping is only possible for people who take a "BaaS monthly payment" on their battery. Through which as far as I understand it, you're not the owner of the battery so not many claims you could make. Resale value nearly impossible to predict. Not only by using the swapping stations, but also by trying to monopolize the charging process and force their customers to charge at home using only better place managed charging stations which came with a nice fee (they even tried to "standardize" the Israeli automotive charging cables and connectors to aid them with monopolizing charging in Israel which made alot of people very angry...) To add to all that, the car only did about 150 Km per charge and was pretty useless to inter-city travel. Nevertheless, I don't think that corporate greed was the main cause for its failure. While the swapping concept is a good concept (one of the main advantages in my point of view is that you dont "own" the battery which is the main component that devalues the car in time), lack of standardization and the cost of maintenance and infrastructure will take this idea down (again, the same way it took Better place down and the same way Tesla gave up on that idea).

Logic is wrong. Market will tell, not your emotion, your world view, or ideology. The best survives as simple as that.

The thing is Chinese car makers will copy what Tesla is doing, and they will tell the world they invented it. Chinese labors are incredibly cheap, thus lowering the cost of pretty much everything in the manufacture. Sure, they make EV with afordable price, but the biggest concern is that all companies in China are pretty much owned by CCP, which they will always do something sneaky to any electronics to compromise your security and personal data. They are almost perfect, the only issues are their abysmal culture and government...

@@christopherwang7460 LOL is it... I dont think so at all. It will have more headwinds but eventually technology matters. Wanna bet in 10 years Chinese car manufacturer will be one of the dominant most innovative entities in the world, regardless of their political system or whatever u see in your mind
