I've had spider mites and I'm dealing with powdery mildew now. From the looks of it, it was spider mites. Spider mites damage looks like those black spots. And you can't see the spider mites with the naked eye on succulents. Powdery mildew has white powder spots, the edges of the wcan have brown/black What you used is great for both.

Amazing video , just what I was looking for. I’ve just discovered fungus on a 2 year old succulent ( no name ) that I’ve never had any trouble with at all in the past. We are on our first day of summer and have had a spring with a lot of rain, overcast days and heat , so there is the problem. We have neem oil so I’ll give it a spray after seeing your results. I just hope it dosnt go through my collection . I only noticed the fungus today. Best of luck with the continued recovery of your plants ... not good to have such problems. Could your succ your not sure of with the flower stem , be a Fred Ives. Just a suggestion . I will like and subscribe 😀👍

The bottle of stuff you were using said 0.9% Neem Oil… Other ingredients said 99.01%, which is probably chemicals. That’s not exactly Neem oil. Wish you could do another experiment with just Neem Oil. Not trying to be mean or anything.. I love these kind of experiment videos.. please do more. Also if you could try an experiment with using some Neem cake or pellets in the succulent soil mix.. would love to see what the difference would be.

Yeah I assumed a lot of it was water. Next time I get fungus I’ll do another experiment! I havent heard of neem pellets, where do you find them?
@ilovecornell
@ilovecornell 2 жыл бұрын
@@SweetSweetSucculents oh ya you’re right probably a lot of water. But there is just pure 100% Neem Oil. oh cool, I love these experiments. I wanted Neem Cake originally but only found the pellets on Amazon at first when I ordered it. Then later I had seen Neem cake. I’m eventually going to make my own succulent soil mix and put a little bit of the pellets or cake in the soil mix.. I want to see if it will reduce all the pest issues or not. I do have the pure Neem Oil but haven’t actually tried it myself first Lol. I think you can sprinkle a little on top of the soil too but I’m not 100% positive about that. I could be confusing that with compost.

@@ilovecornell I’m hoping I don’t find any more fungus for a long, long time, but if I do, I’ll hunt down some pure neem!

I was away for a month and came home to most of my echaverias looking so bad most of the leaves were damaged and badly marked, in the end when I saw that the new growth was coming through looking ok, I took off all damaged leaves, now I have 11 pots of large echaveria stems with 1 inch of new growth so hopefully I can salvage something.

@@SweetSweetSucculents I think the ones I wasnt able to be saved was this from Deborah Baldwin's website, she has a few videos meeting with a succulent farmer and hybridizer in Cali. debraleebaldwin.com/uh-oh-succulent-sick/ CRACKLED, SCABBY PATCHES Serious This indicates mycoplasma infection. The bacteria enters the plant's roots and then its leaves from nursery soil that contains horse manure. Once a plant has it in its tissues, there's no getting rid of it except by extreme measures. “It’s not worth trying to treat it,” says echeveria expert Dick Wright. "It's best to simply discard the plants." Notify the plant source, too. Mine had awful scarring and discoloration, wilty and brownish in color, dropping of leaves before dying all together. Maybe this was the cause of the one's you couldnt save?
@SweetSweetSucculents
@SweetSweetSucculents 4 жыл бұрын
@@dinalarocca5974 I actually read all about this before making the video and that was what I suspected, but I sent the pics to a couple of botanists and they both said it was unlikely. Who knows? There’s not a lot of info on mycoplasma in succulents, but like Dick Wright said, not even worth treating

Have you checked under a usb microscope or magnifier of some sort ? I know this video is older . But that damage looks like Brevipalpus mites . They’re killing 75% of my 300 succulents. They’re a nightmare! Alcohol kills adults. But their eggs are impervious to most any miticide. The granular imidacloprid makes the mites attack worse . Imidacloprid actually decreases their defenses to mites . Brevipalpus mites are microscopic too . So you absolutely can’t see them without magnification. They make burnt looking spots on your plants . They start at the tips of the leaves . Or sometimes where the leaf meets the stem . And they work from the bottom up usually. On occasion, they’ll actually start in the crown . They’re the devil! How’d your plants do ?

I actually found out what it was! Alcohol burn! I was using 99% on a sunny day. That one made 2 pups after I beheaded it and they’re just fine!

@@SweetSweetSucculents , Yay ! Glad it wasn’t these dreadful mites ! So happy that your pups are doing well . I’ve burned mine with alcohol before too . It’s a drag . But at least they grow out of it . I’m gonna try sulfur on some of mine for the mites . Alcohol works temporarily. But they keep coming back due to the eggs hatching . And with 300 plants , spraying constantly is so time consuming. Have you experienced mites at all ? Any pointers ? Thank you for the reply. Hope you’re having an amazing weekend 🤗🤗🤗

PS , the mites I have are called false spider mites . They’re just terrible. I want to warn all succulent lovers about these pests . You absolutely can’t see them without magnification and you’ll think you’ve burned your plants or they have a fungus. I’ve lost so many plants to them before I figured it out . Want to save anyone else I can from this heartache. Just toss the plant if you find them . I wish I had . Now I’m tossing faves anyway. So sad . They prefer purple succulents most . Especially dark colored ones . They love Echeveria Chroma .
