Custom straps are great. I have watches that I hadn’t worn much until new life was given by the addition of a custom strap! ( and quick release pins take the stress out of changing straps)

Kirby a little tip. You can also consider having straps made with deployant clasps instead of tang buckles. Deployants preserve the strap for longer and you don't get those nasty creases on the hole you use

Just picked up a custom strap from Jean Rousseau in New York. Not quite the bespoke experience, but I got pretty much exactly what I wanted (dark blue semi-gloss alligator) and a similar level of service. They do amazing work.

My very first "nice" watch I ever purchased I bought some quick release straps for. I was riding my motorcycle on the highway a couple weeks later and and went to look at my watch to find out that the quick release had in fact released while I was riding and my watch was somewhere on the highway. Didn't feel it fall of my wrist because of the vibrations of the motorcycle I guess. That's one reason why someone wouldn't wear a quick release strap. I only ride with nato straps now.

You should visit Oxford, Kirby. Lots of additional layers of heritage for you to sample.

Sadly, Oxford has lost many of its traditional shops, except for a few that remain in the area immediately round the covered market. Like so many historic British cities, it has too many cheap looking Harry Potter-esq souvenir shops full of cheap tat. The colleges remain as beautiful as ever.

In fact, a true "snobby" custom-made leather strap only comes with a single hole in the leather, which only & exactly fits the actual owner of that time piece !

I wouldn't recommend it, your wrist will subtly change size depending on the weather.

Appreciate the video, however if anyone wants a Jean Rousseau strap really consider your options. There are tons of ateliers around the world that will do the same bespoke work for a 1/3 of the price.
