My First Bluefin Tuna Charter

I announced I got my Captains license earlier in the year. I have had a lot of fun running some trips for halibut and lingcod. Today the stakes are getting raised and I am running my first tuna charter. We are after bluefin and will be heading out the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco.

Nice one bro congrats to the Charter Captain ChrisPfish'n blue fin christening! A good formula for calculating the weight on large tuna is: Length times (Girth squared) divided by 800 equals Weight. So thats L x (G²) ∻ 800 = W. It's pretty accurate alternative to a scale. Cheers good fish finding captain!

Thank you. Yes we were surprised line didnt break too. Fight only lasted 15min and for a bluefin the fish didnt fight extremely hard. That helped

@@Fishing247 fish was not bled by the Mac didn’t come up dead or bleeding fish was still very hot at the top if you put the screws to them they just don’t know what’s happening and can get them in the boat before they really start fighting

The fish was equally caught. It was the four fishermans fish. The deckhand divided it equally for them 4. Everyone went home with 15-20 pounds of bluefin meat.

@@CoastalGabe1 that's not fighting the fish, that's turning the handle. Boat is fighting the fish. In San Diego we fight the fish from a dead boat and kick their ass with 20 fisherman hooked up

@@CoastalGabe1 BFT are BFT , tough no matter where you catch them. I'm 65 and when I started fishing you were a pussy if you let your rod touch the rail. Worked on some of the best long range boats there are.Rod in the holder is a lot easier than holding it and having to follow the fish. My biggest BFT is 234 and it kicked my ass, biggest YFT is just a little over 200. Commercial albacore fisherman in Oregon now. Still think that Big Eye are the meanest
