For me. I was at school, I couldn’t find a click that I felt a part of, so I said “screw it” and created my own board games/CCG/ wargame club in my school library after school. We pooled money, resources etc to get a few bits together, borrowed off of other folk, had stuff donated. Eventually I got to college and took my hobby and looked for other clubs in the big bad world and never looked back.

My favorite part of the hobby is getting to spend time with my friends. Don’t get me wrong I love painting weird monsters, but the best part is getting to share the hobby with people I care about.

I got into the hobby when I was around 9 or 10. I had a family member that played 40k and he showed me these little dudes who looked like robots with big guns (turned out to be Space Marines!). I turn 39 this year and I'm still absolutely hooked on the hobby. I've had a few breaks in my collecting journey, but I've always come back and I've never lost the love for it.

I've loved Warhammer and Miniatures for 23 years, since I was 7 years old. Warhammer Fantasy 6th Edition is what got me hooked. And I still have not made it to Adepticon a single time! I'm hoping next year that finally changes. Thanks Witty. :)

Greetings from northern England. I first got into Warhammer Fantasy Battle as Sigmar was known, 30 or so years ago, in my late teens/early 20s. I was drawn at first, to the Tolkienesque aesthetic, and just the idea that you could assemble, paint and fight battles with your army blew my mind. I then returned to GW, after a long 20 year hiatus, when 40k caught my eye. Now I'd say that my fandom for everything Grimdark, is vying for the top spot in my affections. This lifelong Tolkien devotee never thought that was possible. Great channel, btw. 👍 Subscribed.

I got into painting after a ruff breakup. I had a lot more time on my hands and needed to get my mind off stuff. I had always wanted to try painting minis and now was the time. I went to the LGS met some people. Picked up some paints and a box of witch hunters from GW and went to town.

I got into the hobby painting my DnD charater, and then some monsters, and then I wanted to make the party so I had to chop up models and glue them together to customize and I discovered kitbashing, and slowly painted more and more and different things and now I mostly paint bigger display stuff and to me its just so nice to have a creative outlet thats also like a problem solving puzzle for my own personalized work!

I missed this years AdeptiCon, but I got to go to my first in 2022, and it was amazing. Got to meet a bunch of cool people that I would not have had the ability to meet outside that event. It was overall one of the funnest things I did in a long long while, and look forward to going in 2024.

I stay in the hobby because it, my dog, and my job are all I currently have left. It's been a rough few years, and the mini painting community has been very good to me.

Hi Witty, my name's Adam, and I'm really enjoying your videos! Thanks for taking us along for your Adepti-trip! I've never gone to Adepticon before, but would sure like to! I got into the hobby with Mordheim, way back in 1999 when a bunch of friends started playing. Then there was the inevitable "gap" when they all stopped, and my fire, too, dwindled to embers. But I started playing with myself (double entendre?) when everyone became shut ins for a while, and my fire is raging again! I'm at a hobby streak of 847 days on the 'gram, and in my rare spare time I'm even developing a solo Mordheim game called Catacombs. Good times :) Anyhoo... keep being an awesome ray of sunshine, and keep making fun and engaging videos!

What got me into gaming and the hobby was my mother reading The Hobbit to me and my sister when we were little kids. That was my foot into the door of D&D, and that was just the start of playing so many different games and trying new things and meeting people and making friends... Honestly, I literally would not be who or where I am today if it wasn't for "In a hole in the ground, there lived a Hobbit."

I could cry reading this, The Hobbit was SO influential to growing up. I actually struggled learning how to read, but when we took turns reading The Hobbit as a kid in my house, something clicked and I became a voracious reader! I love this so much. Thank you for sharing this with me!

It was my first AdeptiCon as well! I really am sad I Missed out on the content creators meet and greet! As it would have been a really good way to network out in the hobby in one of the biggest events! Maybe next year if they have one again! I got into the hobby really by a chance viewing of a post on Facebook. I love playing the games but my passion is building terrain! I have only been at it for two years and feel i am doing really great! I am so looking forward to the next two years and what lies ahead! I feel my most amazing project has not even built yet!
