You are so inspirational! I am not sure if I am too old for medical school. I won’t be able to start until I’m 28-29 currently 26 year old Nurse in the ED. I always wanted to be a doctor though. Not sure if I should just do the NP route. I’m interested in Emergency, Psychiatry or Family Medicine.

It definitely depends on what you want out of your career and the type of journey you’re willing to take to get there. Definitely a long journey going the medical route, I know a lot of people who have done it as a second careers though. Since you said you’re interested in multiple specialties maybe the NP route would be better suited?

Yeah I don’t plan on working in the ED in my 50s. Rental investments and potential ownership opportunities related to healthcare is what I’m looking to transition to.

Congratulations!!! 🎉🥳. If you don't mind me asking, how old are you? What would you consider on the older end of starting a journey to becoming a physician? I will be 30 in January barely getting an Associate's Degree in Cardiovascular Technology May 2024 graduation. So I'm looking at 32.5 at the earliest receiving a Bachelor's Degree. Think I'll continue my journey in becoming a Physician Associate and hope and prey I get in the first try so I can be done at the age of 35.5 at the earliest.

@dpaper7962 Don’t let your age keep you from pursuing your career goals. I used to think this all the time, but the way I learned to look at it is: I will be “insert age” anyway, so I’d rather be doing what I’m passionate about than living with the regret that I let my age keep me from at least trying. 29. I had a handful of classmates who were in their 30s and 40s. One of my coresidents was in his 40s. They PA route is much shorter so it’s definitely doable.

It widely varies based on the region you work, but I’d say 350k-500k.
