I spend my first day exploring Tokyo (東京), Japan, visiting Tokyo's oldest temple Sensō-ji, and trying ramen at the famous chain Ichiran. I then head over to Shibuya, to walk the famous scramble crossing, before heading to Shibuya, an area full of neon lights and atmosphere.

I'm Jason, a full-time British Travel Vlogger and KZbinr who's been to 61 countries. I've been travelling around the world full-time since 2017.
I have travel series' from many of the world's best (and least) known destinations. I filmed the first vlogs on my channel in the summer of 2016 after spending a year living in China. A proper solo trip around Eastern Europe followed after graduating from University in the summer of 2017, taking me to Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, North Macedonia and Kosovo. This marked the start of my efforts to turn vlogging into a full-time job.
After that European trip I explored much of Asia: visiting India, Bangladesh, Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, Pakistan, the Philippines, South Korea and Kazakhstan.
I have also travelled to North Africa and the Middle East fairly extensively over the last five years, filming videos in Turkey, Algeria, Tunisia, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Israel and Palestine.
I've travelled to North America just once as a KZbinr, visiting Mexico in 2021. Though I have been to both the USA and Canada, this was as a child on family holidays.
In 2022, I took my first trip to Sub Saharan Africa, visiting Kenya and Tanzania, before heading to the Middle East, stopping in Dubai and Lebanon. Europe followed, covering both the Greek and Turkish sides of Cyprus, and afterwards going back to Italy for the second time to cover Milan and Sicily. I then visited the Caribbean for the first time, covering the Dominican Republic, before heading to both Brussels and Amsterdam, then covering Taiwan and the Philippines in Asia. I finished off the year with a trip around Morocco.
I started my travels in 2023 by finally visiting Paris, taking the Eurostar from London. I then headed over to Qatar for a few days, before heading to Asia, with vidoes following from India, Singapore, Taiwan and Japan.

I am a Japanese. I recommend hidden Japanese delights. The first is Depa-Chika, where many long-established bento stores, delicatessen food stores, prominent fruit stores, and confectionary stores are clustered on the first or underground floor of a department store. Although a little more expensive than convenience stores, you can find bento boxes sold by long-established restaurants that have been in business for over 100 years, or pastries made by up-and-coming pastry chefs. You can also find super tasty melons, famous among foreigners, and extremely sweet and luxurious mangoes called "sun mangoes". They are a bit expensive as gifts, but for foreigners who have already paid for their airfare, it is no big deal to eat juicy melons and white strawberries for 5,000 yen or 10,000 yen. The second is to watch a baseball game. There are several baseball stadiums in major cities such as Tokyo Dome and Seibu Dome. You can watch great Japanese players of the same caliber as Otani play. The baseball stadiums also sell delicious bento lunches and good beer selected by the players. You can enjoy a Japanese beef lunch box and other dishes for about 1,500 yen. Third, you should definitely visit a Japanese theater or concert hall. For example, the Shiki Theater Company has many large theaters in Japan where you can enjoy "Phantom of the Opera" and Disney musicals. There are also 2.5 dimensional musicals that are unique to Japan, such as musicals based on manga and anime. For example, "The Prince of Tennis" is a famous example. There are also original musicals unique to Japan. If you go to Shinjuku, you can enjoy the National Ballet Company, where you can see ballerinas who have won prizes in ballet competitions around the world dance. In terms of concerts, you can enjoy J-Pop and rock concerts. You can not only listen to songs, but also enjoy talk shows, short plays, and acrobatic shows by singers who perform in the air. Probably, as far as I know, many concerts are very visually elaborate. For those who like anime, there are also concerts of anime songs. Thanks.

This is a message to all foreign visitors to Japan. Summer in Japan can be very humid, uncomfortable, and dangerously hot! If possible, we recommend avoiding the summer months and going to Hokkaido or the highlands where the humidity is lower. Summer in Japan is fun, but be sure to be prepared and go mainly at night.

I am so glad that you've finally gotten to experience the joy that is Tokyo. I'm going back for my third time in October. I've waited 4 years and 6 months for this. I'm not sure if you have already left, but make your way out to the Western Suburbs like Kichijoji and Mitaka. They're lovely places to walk around and see life outside of the core. Inokashira Park is fantastic and should not be missed. I hope you're enjoying your trip!

Technically the metro is separated into two companies, Tokyo Metro and Toei Subway. Toei Subway is owned by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, while Tokyo Metro is the original subway operator in Tokyo. They have different lines and different price structures. Also private train lines, line Seibu, Tobu, Keio, Odakyu, Tokyu and Keikyu are different from the metro. Many of these stations between private and subway, let alone JR all work together through the Pasmo/Suica cards. These Pasmo/Suica cards will save you a couple of yen per trip by not having to print tickets.

True. In Japanese, the ‘u’ vowel is almost not pronounced and the focus is on the consonant sounds. So the places like “Shibuya” is not “Shi BOO!! yuh” and it’s more of “Shi b ya”.
@shurikens68
@shurikens68 Жыл бұрын
Nope. As someone that hits the place up roughly once a week, Shibuya is absolutely pronounced as Shi-boo-ya. Vowels almost essentially getting skipped over in spoken speech is a kind of hit or miss thing.

I watched the video with a sense of nostalgia for the noise of Tokyo. I was born and raised in Tokyo, but now live in a rural area (Aichi Prefecture). Here there are many people who use cars in their daily lives (the number of cars owned is the largest prefecture in Japan), so people are not walking so much. My child, who was born in Tokyo and left at the age of 2, when he visited Tokyo 5 years later, asked me, "What kind of festival is this?" So I said "It's just normal Tokyo." and he was so surprised. I will never forget this conversation. (The population of Aichi is 7.5 million. It is 1/2 of Tokyo, but it is by no means a sparsely populated place. At least 2 million more than the Norwegians.😅)

@Lightice1
@Lightice1 Жыл бұрын
And at the same time in the 1970. A lot of stuff is modern and futuristic, while a lot of other stuff seems incredibly outdated. Everything still needs to be stamped with an ink pad to be official and fax machines are everywhere. Showa era aesthetic still lives on in a lot of places, too, but I'm not complaining about that. It has character that the modern architecture lacks.

@@Lightice1 The reason why Japanese things feel old is simply because they were developed so quickly, and because they are ruthlessly solid structures, they have not collapsed, so there is no need to rebuild them in a hurry. Also, it is natural that emerging countries are newer. Many of the buildings are 30 to 60 years old, so they are currently undergoing a once-in-a-century redevelopment.

I am Japanese, but I don't want to go to Tokyo because it is too crowded. And it is dirty.

Yea, I dont like being in places that are crowded, It's one of the reasons I dont enjoy school 😅 Ive seen some more rural spots in Japan, and I really love how it looks and feels. I want to visit one day, see how its like IRL

Actually I’m tired of overtourism in Tokyo. I use the Ginza Line for commuting. Some groups of foreign tourists behave badly on trains. Sitting proudly in the priority seat with his legs crossed, also their voices are very loud .They board a narrow, crowded train with backpacks on their backs during rush hour. When in town, follow the town.
