Ryan you helped me get into racing, i was hyped. Spent a lot of time, effort, and of course money on my equipment and cars. Had a lot of fun setting up. Have not been to a single race. Getting everything packed and traveling a min of an hour and half to a track i know nothing about killed the dream. I bash and fly drones maybe one day i will find a track closer to me. I think there is an oval half hour away and oval seems like the new hotness.

A little stiffer left rear spring, really play with the diff to get it smoother than anything you've ever run. Get it as free as possible. D/O is all about cross weights. You can also speed up and slowdown your DR, also you can give yourself a little lead in on corners if needed. If you're going to run that car more often I suggest a different shock. I've been watching some guys with the CW cars running the yokomo shocks(tighter tolerance) you can mess with the offset they make different thickness wheel hexes.

Ive gotten some orders from guys down at NewRed but never seen the track. Thanks for doing a video, this was cool to see. The rocket5 offset chassis is always tight, takes a lot of rake in the chassis, small bore shocks and a lot of RR spring to get them to rotate. Good luck at the bowl, have fun and laugh a lot! I'd just do everything Kevin says, he's no dummy.

I come from the big car dirt oval world and now race 8th scale and 10th offroad/oval. In general, if you fix the entry you help exit. What usually happens Is when the front grips mid corner it kinda "whips" the back end around. Once you get the entry down. Then the rear grip off you can work on.

When I raced dirt oval more than 20 years ago. Rubber tires was a sin, especially rubber tires that had any type of pin on it. We ran foam tires only. Grooves were cut on a tire lathe and a dremel tool. I really miss racing though. Just don't have the time or money anymore.
@54raceman11 ай бұрын
Foam tire racing has about died out. Majority of the tracks around me that ran foam tire have either got rid of the classes due to lack of racers or do good to get enough to even run the class most weeks I think the closest track to me that still runs much foam tire is like 4hrs away vs 1hr to multiple rubber tire tracks. My local track used to have 6 foam tire classes and are now down to 2 and people are having to have friends run their spare cars just to get enough cars to run the classes

Rear steer looked minimal. For as tight as that track is you could run a bit more lr toe in. Loose off you can add rr toe out. Loose dirt is a little different than med-high bite.
@54raceman11 ай бұрын
Yeah as tight as he was on entry you would think they would have toed the left rear in especially when they did the track side adjustments before the first round after it didn’t turn at all on the warmup laps. only reason I can think that didn’t was maybe they didn’t trust him to enter on throttle enough to take advantage of it

Funny, i just did my first dirt oval race in a long time this past weekend with a mod sprint. Alot to learn. Good ole new red. Im from ohio, going there prob feb 2-3 or the next weekend. I go there like three times a year and usually run 4wd inside and sc truck. Was gonna take the sprint and try that. I also hit newberry with the stadium truck nitro, although ill miss their jan 27 race, ill still go practice, then i hit epic and rip the nitro buggy.
@samleary273311 ай бұрын
Oval cars are not too different to off-road. Ride height is really important. That track also looked like the full pins way not have been the way to go. Typically the more of a groove there is, the more you want the pins to be short/non existent. Outside of that, getting the electronics swapped around will help. They are also pretty responsive to roll center changes so getting the front roll center lower will help with corner entry quite a bit. Welcome to dirt oval. I tried to get away but it always sucks me back in.
@simong731011 ай бұрын
I really like the professional vibes of the livery. At the beginning it would have helped to get to know where the car came from. It all was a bit sudden. But... interesting and fun !

Good luck man! I'm not saying anything about set up, you already reached out to right right people, base off of Max's setup and roll. It's going to be a new car
@CyberOcelotRC11 ай бұрын
Looks like you had the wrong tires for that track. For Dirt Oval, though tracks and conditions will vary greatly, I was told and had great results with using Slicks with Papa Willy Traxion tire dressing (I use the red). I was getting such good grip, I had to let up on the throttle to not pop wheelies. If you're not familiar with the process, the slicks are sanded and tire dressing is applied. This is the configuration after sun down. Very limited tread is the go to if the sun is out. Since you're always turning left, get your collars on the right side, and make adjustments there as needed during practice time. Hope this helps. :)

I dk why I got so excited to see and hear you're going to chili bowl. Your videos are car talk are smooth and entertaining. 👍
@coreyburlock359411 ай бұрын
To get some more "turn in" if you notice your left front only had dirt on 2/3 of the tire. That means 1/3 is not touching the ground in the corner. Tip your tire in until full left crank on steering and all of your left tire is touching the ground. This has helped me in the past.
@CoachD38611 ай бұрын

The best thing to happen to racing recently are the spec classes like Bomber and Salvas Mudboss. Low cost and better competition. Win-win.
@sevencorter4 ай бұрын
Not sure where you get your imagination from but spec racing actually costs more and prevents good racing. When all cars are running the same limited speed there isn't much passing.

The front-end push is the hardest to get right... if you overload the tire it will give to a similar push as if you underload the tire. if I was to guess your front shocks are laydown too much - at speed (even with the battery to the right side) the forces are going to the wall and not down to the tire.

Just built a B74.2, took it out to track my first time. I am completely newbie and I suck, but I didn't break anything. Sensor wire was giving me issues, bought a new one, was running fine and it came off and the thing kept running. WTF is that about? Steering still feels way too stiff. Might have to just disassemble the entire steering assembly to figure out wtf is binding.
