MY FiRST DOLLAR GENERAL GROCERY HAUL

My daughter Hailey loves Dollar General and she told me that I had to check it out. So we headed over there to do my very first grocery haul at Dollar General.
I love the fact that the grocery carts were bigger than at dollar tree I could hardly fit anything in there. And it was really cool that everything was sold by the whole dollar so it’s easy to figure out if you have a budget that you were on. It was like two items for two dollars or two items for six dollars or two items for five dollars. So it’s easier to figure out what you were spending compared to Walmart were the prices are like $1.62. Or $6.87.
I found a lot of items that were very comparable to Walmart prices and then several that were actually cheaper. I was happy to see that they had a lot of the brands that I used and they also had good and healthy options too. It was a bummer that they didn’t have any fruits or vegetables.
The store with a little cramped for me so it was hard to get down some of the isles and it was kind of messy and the layout that I normally do when I do my grocery halls at the bigger stores was different so I felt like I was just having to grab whatever came to mind instead of having a plan where I went to the dairy department, then to the lunchmeat, then to the drinks. So that kind of threw me off a little bit.
I think that I like dollar tree better because they seem to have more unique items that you don’t see it other stores and they also give you a knock off brand to try. So I feel that with a bigger family if you need more variety and options to choose from for pricing and brands. The bigger stores are definitely better but if you live in a town where there’s only a dollar general available you definitely can get your groceries there at a decent price.
I think I’d like to go back and maybe shop not groceries and just look for cool items but I still feel like dollar tree has the one up on Dollar General because you can find unique things that you’re not used to find him.

So fun to watch you go shopping. I have to follow my rules when I go shopping. I only do large shopping once a month since the lockdown. I take an inventory to list everything I have used during the month that must be replaced. I make sure I eat a meal before I go. No shopping hungry.

I used to love Dollar Tree, Dollar General and Family Dollar but unfortunately the prices are just too high at those stores now. The prices at these stores used to be an amazing deal. Now they are often higher than even Walmart!

I thought of you the last time I went to Dollar Tree I found a couple of items I did no9t kniw they carried. Chocolate Pudding that I picked up for my prepping pantry alot less expensive than the grocery store, and Stuffed Marshmallows they were out of the ones I wanted to try Salted Caramel but h8ad alit of the Chocolate filled. The sales clerk said he puts them in his coffee instead of creamer. Sounds delicious.

Definitely a downfall at Dollar General are the aisles.....always boxes to navigate around that need stocked!...Do better Dollar General! By that i mean the company not the employees, i know the store employees do the best they can!!❤

For real. It’s an everywhere issue. Our inventory and ordering system is all automated and we’ve requested so many departments to be turned down so our trucks aren’t so big because we are super impacted and we still get huge trucks and no where to put anything. It’s just as infuriating for the employees as it is the customers.

I find that Dollar General is more expensive than Walmart or the grocery store except for a few things or the sales. But it’s convenient when I just need one thing and don’t want to drive all the way to the bigger stores. And sometimes they do have products I can’t find anywhere else locally.

You definitely need to do a Sam’s club haul in January. There is a short list of things that you will never buy in town again. It definitely includes Trash bags, paper towels, an OTC meds like acetaminophen and ibuprofen. It’s eye opening but do the research because some food may not be the best deal.

We buy the Dollar General brand bread and we prefer it to a brand name. It’s softer and it stays softer than brand name longer. It has a great flavor. Just food for thought

There's a great $5 off of $25 on Saturdays coupon on the app. Lot's of digital coupons on the app for foods and cleaning supplies, health and beauty products. Sometimes on Saturdays I save up to $15 or more. The coupons and special sales like 3 days only really help my budget. They also have some great clearance deals , sometimes they run 50% off clearance like in January and after holidays on seasonal items.

As dedicated as you are about savings and finding cheaper things even if its just $.25 less and the fact you have a giant family i think you should do Extreme Couponing!! The type of person you are you would be good at it! To get all your hundreds or even thousands of dollars a month in groceries down to just less then $100 the entire month you would probably die of excitement!!! Lol Its just a thought! 🤷🏼 And fyi when you shop at all these "dollar" places make sure to always check the dates on the food! All those places are good for expired food! The app for DG is a must! I shop there almost every Saturday. I usually limit myself to a $10 limit (w/o tax). This week I got tide laundry detergent, face wash. Toothpaste, etc for $10!

Hello I ran across your Channel. At Dollar General you can attach digital coupons to your phone number. At the register all you have to do is type in your number in the digital come off. And also you can do a 5 / 25 on Saturdays that is an extra savings.

I thought Dollar General was supposed to be a discount variety store, but it looks like it's fairly expensive and you could find the same items for the same price (or less) in a supermarket (grocery store)! I understand that prices are going up due to cost of living, but the prices could still be better. Good haul, though.

I have never heard of rubbing Vapor rub on your feet. I was always taught to use it on your chest when a cold was coming on - That and wearing flannel pj's says to me winter is on its way . When their canned veggies are on sale I stock up, also butt wipes . I purchase baby wipes as they are less expensive ( I never flush wipes as they clog the septic systems). And, my organizational totes were purchased last time there was a huge sale so I bought several all of which were less than even those at Walmart. I really like DG except for the fact the stores are messy and the aisles are often dangerously crowded
