My First DoorDash Walmart Grocery Delivery - Walmart Home Grocery Delivery
I often get asked, "Does DoorDash deliver for Walmart?" and the simple answer is, "Yes". After orders have been picked by Walmart's personal shoppers, a DoorDash “Dasher” retrieves the order from a Walmart store and delivers it right to the customer during their specified delivery window. Groceries can be delivered to customers as soon as the same day.
This was my first day delivering Walmart groceries and wasn't sure how it was going to go. Walmart Same Day Delivery is a great option for customers and for Dashers if they want to earn their pay. For customers, the convenience of shopping delivered to your door feature, is quite nice and hassle free but DoorDash drivers need to be prepared for these orders. I was not prepared and didn't have the right equipment like Plastic Storage Bins or Ice Coolers to store the food. What if I had a huge order that had to be delivered to multiple floors? Do you have a hand truck/dolly ready to go? I sure didn't!

I had a wal mart pick up and my 1st experience was not good. Over 100 items , apartment complex ,3rd floor , cases of water that were heavy, and no tip ! I'll never ever do wal mart again

That really sucks should be an automatic TIP per heavy item! To the door dasher's of Walmart, I live in an apartment (only 6 steps) I order 1 case (1per month) of bottled water & lots of different food items, but there are people like me that do generously tip & appreciate you and all delivery drivers... I am in metro ATL and I am getting $8.50-$10.00 for Wal-Mart and the customers are tipping $5.00+ in cash mostly. I get about 2-5 of them right after I get off night shift on my main gig. Never more than 3-5 miles for the delivery. So, I am down with Wal Mart... I think its great.

Every morning I get a stacked Walmart order to start my day. Takes about 35 minutes and I average 27 dollars. Not bad. At the start of the month I’ll get 5-10 a day and can make over 200 a day just doing Walmart. But I also have the benefit of living 500 feet away from one

Walmart is on my blacklist. First delivery was to a hotel. Funny thing was the guest hasn't arrived to the hotel yet. So I had to enter her room and stock up the kitchen for her. Also not realizing that I had to collect a signature, I stood there like an idiot figuring out what to do. In the end, the front desk clerk who helped me stock up her room decided to sign it. Second and final Walmart order I did. I was sitting nearly an hour outside the person's house because I needed to collect the signature. They refused to open the door, I tried to contact them telling them they needed to sign their payment no answers until finally a girl opened the door nearly an hour later. Knowing the vibe of Walmart and knowing the types of people that shop at Walmart, I decided to never go to any Walmart ever again both as a driver and a customer. i have had several door dash deliveries from wally world in the past.. what a fiasco !!!!! up front i want to state that the folks doing the deliveries are good people and are not the culprits or the root of the problem ... they pick up the order from wally world and they NEVER have been given a address so they must call for a address and directions which usually involves some time... i live in a slightly rural development that is new... the gps and maps are not showing the location of the residence... so more directions involved... finally the order gets delivered by a frustrated driver... i would be frustrated too.. after this scenrario repeated itself i just quit using wally world and went to the competition... i will go back to walmart if they ever start using fedex/ups again as the orders used to come straight from a distirbution center and not a store... i felt sorry for the drivers and made the extended dive worth their while at a added expense to me that was not necessary prior to door douche ...

Hey Dash Drivers, here is a GREAT argument to give your customers that order groceries, like me! Explain that if there order were an LTL (Less than Truckload) palletized order, it would cost a minimum of about $200 to ship it, and then if they want it toted upstairs, that's an expensive charge ( services as anything that goes beyond the basics of dock-to-dock transportation, which includes OFF truck to door delivery!) based on distance and weight! It is NOT uncommon to see a palletized 50-100 pound item being trucked by an LTL carrier, trust me, I KNOW, I did LTL for years! (You could also suggest they themselves figure out how much it would cost for FedEx or UPS to deliver the volume of groceries, they are getting, but of course, those carriers wouldn't take a grocery load at all, but you can ball park figure out how much it would cost if they did by going to their website!) *$20 tip or so is CHEAP!!!!!!!!* I get Walmart delivered directly to me a lot, and never am more than 50 feet from the drivers car, and tip a minimum of $10!!!! :) Sea Story (to the best of my recollection....): I once had a 6 or 7 pallet order of a famous energy drink (1998 or so!) that weighed 7,000 pounds! It was delivering to a holistic office! The owner was around 50 or so, and had 2 or 3 young women and a young guy working for him. It was in PHOENIX AZ, in the summer time too! They wanted me to deliver it inside. I thought, you are out of your freaking mind man! I'm a little guy, 5'5', it's 115 degrees out, and about a 400 foot crazy path to take it from the parking lot, to around this small building, inside through the lobby, down a hall, and into an office. OK, SO I call dispatch, they are like, oh that is an inside delivery accessorial charge. They calculated $4,500 charge, seriously! Of course, the owner was SHOCKED, and got himself, and these young girls, dressed in summer attire, to unload from the tail of the trailer, while I simply broke down the pallets, and stacked product easily! UNO REVERSE!!!! LOLOLOL

Honestly yeah some Walmart orders aren't worth it based on the base pay & distance, but the SHOP RITE orders are even worse, so STAY AWAY as best as you can. I've received between $10-$30 extra in tips through the Walmart orders..and I mean DAYS after which is still better than ZERO tips from every Shop Rite order I've done. Just a heads up for all you dashers, Shop Rite orders are the worse.

I have read and heard that it can take an hour at some walmarts to get items and I am with you about Apartments I hate them and think Door Dash should be asking customer's for not only apt # but Apartment name and building#

The more info on apts the better. Like what floor are u on since apt numbers don't make sense. One that starts with a #1 can be on the 3rd floor. I had one that started with #3 climbed to 3rd floor lady said it's ground floor. How about gate code. After build# ok what section of stairs I'm taking 1st set of stairs or 2nd set of stairs.

Actually. walmart now has an app for delivery drivers for walmart specifically . They offer $15.30 per delivery and any tips you get. unfortunately, unlike doordash or any other delivery app, the tips aren't mandatory however thats no big deal, because of the $15.30. if you do 2-3 deliveries within an hour you can make a decent amount of money in a day, more than most entry level jobs. after some time they'll also start paying you .58 cents per mile or something like that which is HUGE if you have a good car with good gas millage, because if you get say 30+ mpg and you have say a 14-16 gallon tank, you can make an extra $250-$300 if you use a whole tank of gas, and to fill a car, (at least for me) takes about $25-30 so you're profiting just by driving.

@@alexleanh it's just spark I believe. I stopped doing it. The ad for it from indeed lied about the whole thing. You make like 11$ per delivery MAX, and you dont get paid mileage. Ontop of that its infinitely more worse than doordash or uber eats cause they dont let you do 2 runs at a time and if you get there earlier then the posted time they make you wait. Legit had people in like hotel complexes ordering like 200 items and expected me to carry all of it up to the top floor. Some of these buildings didnt even have a elevator.

Wendy's is a no go because you stay 20-minutes in line. Now, I'm dropping Chipolie. I look for two-three things in order. How much they are paying, how far it is going, and where it is going meaning the zip code and/or apt.

Good video for a Walmart pickup. I do the same area and know the store and apartment complex (good map but lousy parking) I decline all Walmart orders over 50 items unless it’s a peak pay extortion. Suggestion: I keep 3 catering bags in my car. I have all the frozen/ refrigerated put in one and spread the rest through the other bags. Works great except for the cases of water and 50 pound bags of dog food. 😔

Did a Walmart today. It was 27 items, a lot of them big like cat litter bags and dog food bags. It was a 40 minute round trip and I accepted it before knowing how far away the destination was. Then I spent 15 minutes waiting for Walmart to bring all of it out. All told it took an hour and I got 8$. I don't think I'll be taking another one. It just takes too much time.

I hate Walmart orders too. I just won't accept them. I did my first Safeway shop and deliver today. What a fiasco. Everything went great until check out...then the app wouldn't let me go past the loyalty points screen. I just couldn't get the screen to scroll to check all the boxes so I could tap 'proceed to pay'. I was able to somehow pay but I couldn't move on to the customer address screen. I had to have support do that and it happened TWICE! I'm done with Safeway orders. Have you done em and if so please do a video so I can see the process. Thanks in advance!!!

I would safely say that every once in awhile it works out but not very often. Picking up the groceries are easy and pretty fast. The delivering of those items could be a bit more difficult. It’s a roll of the dice.

i just did my first batch Walmart deliveries today. One was only at $3.50 for 28 items but it was slow so I took it. About 4 or 5 hours later, the customer gave me a $15 tip which made it all worth it. It can be a toss up since the other Walmart order I received didn't tip me at all but it was worth it, as far as I'm concerned, for that $15 tip.

I am a customer for Walmart grocery delivery. My concern is that the driver gets the tip. It is my understanding specifically for Walmart, the delivery driver can not see the tip ahead of time.? When I check out on the Walmart app it states "100% of the tips go to the driver" then it states "all tips are transferred to 3rd party delivery providers for distribution to the drivers according to their contractual agreements on tip payout. " Which makes me uncomfortable. I have called Walmart asking if delivery drivers get the tip I leave online, and the response was "call the delivery provider company". I have told past drivers when they arrived with the groceries, that I left them a tip online and will they get it? And all have said "I don't know"? This really bothers me. So today I left no tip online, and tried a different way for tips, there is a message section to the driver at walmart check out page (which I hope you all can see?)that I will leave a cash tip in person (so the driver will know they will get a tip when they arrive). Is leaving a cash tip better, specifically for Walmart deliveries? Thanks for any advice.

I've been doing Instacart for a long time now and just recently signed up for Doordash so I think I will be able to handle Walmart orders especially huge orders cos I am used to such. I got collapsible crates and a hand truck that I always bring when I do Instacart so I won't mind Walmart as well

I have a canvas, heavy duty wagon that my delivery people can use to bring the delivery to my door, very easy rolling wheels. Most of the time the drivers decline using it though, because I do not make huge orders and they most often can grab the bags all in one

Also I would do the Walmart orders all day if it weren’t for that most times it takes 30 minutes to get loaded. I wish they would change it to where I could walk in the delivery area tell them who I have sign for it and roll the cart out myself

Today was the first day they threw the walmart ones at me and it really caught me off guard as it I see it has for some other dashers too. Thank you for putting this vid up because I really didnt know what to do but even now seeing it and seeing how much they offered for the 3 they sent me (declined all and all ratings suffered for it) from $9-$6 they are in no way worth it. The bag is pre-packed so you don't have to shop for items like shopper apps. My experience is the people that order delivery on Wal-Mart almost never tip and the delivery distances are way too far for the payout.

I think people "think" they are tipping when they order, because I have done a few Walmart orders and the customers are too cheerful and helpful to believe they don't tip 🤔 and I even had one customer ask me if I had gotten a tip because they were not sure... I showed them that I had not... So they did tip me cash but I wouldn't have gotten one if they had not asked🤔🤦🏾 they need to fix that!

I did Walmart pickup 45 items payout $7.69. It was a 3rd story APT I made 5 trips up and down stairs. I completed the trip and went home for the day. When I looked at app in DD it said my delivery pay was 7.69 and it said I have a pending tip that the customer could leave increasing my pay they would let me know. The next day the APP updated showing that I got a $6 tip BUT the amount I got was the same $7.69. The day before the delivery fee was $7.69. NOW it’s says $1.69 delivery fee and my tip is $6.00 WTF!!! So doordash said before the update that I had a pending tip and if I got one it would increase my pay but NO I got $1.69 delivery pay and a $6 tip a bait and switch so DD only paid me $1.69 To pick up a Walmart order 45 Items Items Drive 8 miles to the destination Walk five times up and down 20 flights of stairs For $1.69 This was the last one I’ll ever do and frankly the last delivery for DoorDash ever

Doordarsh won't block you from Walmart orders. They used to be able to but so many people were requesting it that they stopped. You can talk to a supervisor at Walmart and they can call doordash for you and block you. But some supervisors won't do it you have to be lucky or you have to be so rude on purpose that they call to get you blocked. It should have an option to opt out of Walmart especially since a lot of elderly people do dooordash and they can't lift so much stuff to an apartment.

More often than not I get a tip added later in the day with the Walmart orders (as long as it’s a grocery pickup, the merchandise pickups where you go inside generally never tip). My tips seem to be usually $7 for some reason, but I have gotten several at $10+ and others at $3 and $5

The tips that Walmart automatically sets up in the check out are based on the cost of the groceries ordered, so Seven Dollars is not too large of an order, but the sliding scale goes up for Larger, more expensive orders.

I found out how tipping for Walmart deliveries work. A customer who orders for Walmart delivery can only tip the driver 5 minutes after the customer signs for the delivery. But you all know now that DD keeps the tips to pay for other non tip orders

I get orders delivered from Walmart and I can add or adjust the Driver's tip up to 24 hours after the delivery.

I deliver Walmart everyday and you don't need any of what you're saying. Simply pickup the order and deliver it. It's really that simple. Generally I also get cash tips. What I do is accept the WM order, check the customer address and if it's an apt. I just reassigne it. The payouts are higher usually so I just accept them and get it done. You can't be lazy and expect to make any money delivering. It's also good for you to get out of your car and get some exercise

How do you check the address? I don’t ever see it until after I pick up the order. Also, delivering to a house you probably don’t need any of that or worry about exercise if you aren’t taking apartments.
