Thanks to the lift to the station in my car! 😅 Glad you enjoyed it! You know, I think I’ve gotten immune to the sound because I said it was pants but it sounds quite good in this video! You nailed all the reasons why I think the Up! GTi is a winner! 🥇 I’ll dig the Lupo GTi out the grange next time…. You’ll love that even more and that’s a challenge!

Had my 3 door Tornado Red since August 2023 now. Mine is completely standard apart from 205 front tyres and I've had the roof 3M wrapped in gloss black. 8 months now and I'm still really enjoying it.

@@SamAustin thanks yeah I am loving it. Spent 5 hours detailing it today. Looks fantastic. I'm thinking of perhaps tuning it but not sure. I like it the way it is and to be honest I've always actually liked cars to be stock. Car cost me £12,495 on a 19 plate. 3k for my diesel Fabia as part ex and the rest in cash. Suppose I could've gone and got something 300+ bhp but didn't want finance etc.

It’s cars like this that make me realise how stupid I’ve been chasing more power all these years. This is exactly what is needed for a B road blast, and it can do the boring stuff too. I’m in the market for a 2nd car as a run around and this has just gone straight to the top of my list! Great review once again Sam.

Nice review. VW took the Up GTI off the order books back in January. I luckily snuck my order in the day before. Red, 5 door with a black roof (would've gone pan roof but that hasn't been an option since 2019) Should have it by July. Very much looking forward to it!

Yeah looks a nice little car and also looks quite nice in the red aswell,the seats i like also matches the car quite well..its good to see u drive small cars aswell to get your thiughts of it all but yeah what a great rewiew cheers sam😊

It did look great in person and I enjoyed trying a smaller car also. My only comparison would be an i20 N which is at a far higher price point. Cracking little car for not much more than 10K seems like a bit of a bargain to me 🙂

I owned an UP GTI for two and a half years. Lovely car but sadly the ride was terrible. Every bad bump in the road or pothole was really felt in the car. I believe the UP TSI with some sporty features may have been a better option and could have been called an UP GT. I now drive a regular UP and it's great.

Thank you for sharing your experience with the UP! GTI. I agree with you it will be firmer than other versions of the UP. Personally I found it more comfortable than cars I am used too, Golf R / Focus RS, at low speeds but when pushing on you could tell the car is very sensitive to the bumps on the road. It is a great car but for sure does come with the compromise of a firmer ride I agree 👍

An option would have been: Exchange the GTI dampers by standard one's and fit 16" wheels with 195 tires. The springs of the GTI are 9mm in diameter and longer than the standard UP springs, that are 10mm in diameter. So the GTI does not have stiffer springs.

I saw an up GTi in my area when I went into town. But it’s a white one, not a red one. It also had the latest VW badge.
