As a lowly commuter cyclist for the past umpteen years who's dabbled with motorcycles and scooters, to me it looks like your tires got wet (or whatever the heck that was on 10th Ave) right before you tried the turn, and then you turned onto a manhole cover that was both metal (slippery when wet) and at a different level from the rest of the street, then you accelerated through the turn. Those 5 factors (wet tire, turning, metal surface, uneven surface AND accelerating) can *each* cause a loss of traction by themselves. You were just unlucky enough to get all 5 simultaneously. You live and you learn. Glad you had a proper helmet. Stay safe out there and keep making videos!

That is way more safer then on the roads. In maybe other areas the street would be ok but your playing with your life buddy. I ride the sidewalks as much as I can and use the street for where there are no sidewalks or to cross the street. I’ve been riding for a long time and it’s just a matter of time for you to get hit or killed on your bike. Please take my advice. Honestly, there's no way you could've reacted quick enough to avoid the oil-slicked manhole cover. It didn't help that you were turning when you went over that slick spot, which further enabled losing control. The learning lesson really is to avoid those completely, if possible. Also, on cold days where ice is possible, go slow on bridges and pay attention to what's on the road/pavement. But sometimes, man, the accident was unavoidable due to circumstances and lack of time to be proactive. It's the risk we take when riding high-powered PEVs.

Front tire slipped on the metal manhole. Those things are slippery and the slightest angle on them with added ev weight causes the bike to fold. I've saved myself a few time taking a slight turn on manhole or some sort of metal cover on the road or sidewalk. Always hit them head on and straight.

The road before you made that turn was wet plus you have road tires on the bike. I already know that not a good combination for slick surfaces on the road. When you made that turn and went over that manhole whole cover, I said to myself "this is where he goes down" and I was right. There might have been a light rain earlier in the day or they hosed something down in that area for the road to be wet. Make sure next time on turns to avoid manhole covers, any of those large metal plates they place on the ground to cover construction on the streets. Any street where they still have cobblestones or old tracks from trollies. Those things might take you down on your bike wet or dry.

I’m a old head so I’m going to give it to you straight! If you don’t know what caused your fall, you shouldn’t be riding over 20mph. You can make great video content doing 20mph as doing 35 plus people are going to still watch. Longer handlebars for more control, elbow, shoulder and kneepads are a must, going 30 plus without them is just reckless. Most cars can’t see you when they are turning nor are they looking for you especially during winter times. Ariel rider’s are small bikes low to the ground, remember that. Bike paths are there for a reason your content will not suffer because of it. I’ve been riding bike/ebikes for yrs on these nyc streets speed kills this ain’t laeskate this is NY. You're def right and have a great point. I think once you're in midtown you don't need to go as fast as traffic will hinder that speed. Although once you're in Staten Island that's a different story, especially since there are few bike lanes which is one of the reasons I wanted a vehicle replacement to keep up with traffic here. I've actually been riding an eBoard to work prior to this ebike everyday for over a year to work which was much more sketchier than this especially in the bike lane. You hit a powdered salt covered metal manhole cover and the high torque from the motor spun the wheel out from underneath you. Live and learn, but pay attention. You're lucky there were no cops around or you could have had a much worse day. That bike is 100% not legal in NYS and because of the motor it's no longer considered a bicycle by Federal law. Any local, State, or Federal law enforcement officer could write you up for unlicensed, unregistered, uninsured vehicle and move on to the bike's components. From there , you could be hit with no DOT approved headlight, taillight, brake light, turn signals, mirrors, tires, helmet, and possibly no driver's or motorcycle license. If you happened to be doing better than 30mph on any NYC public road you could get speeding and if 20mph over the limit they can impound the vehicle until you pay the fines and arrange to have it transported away by a fully roadworthy legally licensed vehicle. Speeding Tickets 1 to 10 mph over the speed limit carries a fine of $45 to $150 as well as a surcharge which is $93 in most courts. 11 to 30 mph over the speed limit carries a fine of $90 to $300 plus the surcharge. In some cases a judge can impose jail as well for up to 15 days. heres the speed limit maps www1.nyc.gov/html/dot/downloads/pdf/current-pre-vision-zero-speed-limit-maps.pdf But you probably already know all that, so just pay attention and be careful. Not doing so can cost you a lot of money and possibly your privilege to drive in the future! Good luck!!

get a motorcycle and learn to ride it. these DUImobiles are under engineered for their powertrains, and as they proliferate and people abuse them regulatory backlash will affect people who actually use bicycles with pedal assist
