Children of Time is a truly amazing bit of SF world-building. If you bought it from Amazon, make them send you a new copy. Last year they sent me a copy of Mysteries of Paris that had literally been run over by a fork truck and partially ground to shreds. I don't care if a human packed it or a robot did -- that never should have made it onto the shipping line. But, I've also made them replace creased covers at their expense as well. They may be the devil but they still need to meet my standards. Or did need to. I have avoided their ecosystem for a full eleven days now! 🤬
