My first ever collection from fashion school! (Honest Review & Roast) + Runway Footage

This was so beautiful, and I agree, the power mesh garments were outstanding! I went to fashion school back in 2009, it has been my dream to go to fashion school since I was 6 and at 27, I quit my corporate job and went for it. It was one of the most rewarding experiences ever, I found myself having all this energy and passion I never exerted before as I worked on my projects and collections. I graduated in 2011 and I won best pattern drafting and best garment construction with my final collection. I was as surprised as you lol, because there were students that had been sewing and making clothes for years, and there I was with only a few years of experience being recognized for my work. After that I did a few courses at SCAD, but eventually realized that it wasn't much different from what I had learned (and also it became pretty expensive lol), and didn't do much for years as I grew a family and whatnot. I just recently started to make clothes again (that's how I found your channel lol, I needed refreshers on a lot of things so youtube has become my teacher lol). My goal is to be able to work full time as a designer five years from now! 😁

I’m a Freshman and I did a three look collection for a fashion show for the first time ever and seeing my clothes walk made me literally want to cry I was so excited and like proud of myself, I definitely have things I want to change and do better but simply participating and seeing I could actually do it was unreal

I am in the fashion department at my school and we do a fashion show at the end of every semester! It gives you great experience, but also makes you want to do better on your designs because you know so many people will see them. It's been so fun for me, but also super nerve racking as well. I think it would be so fun to do the line collection class though!

Well I didn't actually get to do a runway but I joined a fashion competition once. The theme was a poem describing the world so it was full of contrasts like day and night and good and bad. So I chose black and white as my main colors and did a whole contrasting collection. And I came out second. I feel like in most of these competitions or runways where there are judges the most important thing is that you have a story or reason for everything that you do. Like you can't just put a random color or fabric or design in the collection without there being a logical explaination for it.
