I think it’s mainly because I have to have my graphic settings pretty low because I have a bad computer which can’t run iracing on high settings without frame rate issues. This update really needs more effective rain lights to penetrate the kicked up water (rooster tails). If you look at the rear cam the headlights of the following cars show through kicked up water fairly well. This would make it much easier to pinpoint the car in fronts position. The wipers and water droplets on the windscreen also needs improving. IMO

He means that in order to determine where you are on track when your front windshield is getting battered by spray, you can use your side windows to get a sense of where you are instead. You're almost having to look sideways to look for landmarks out the window and orient yourself@@mementomori4972

He's implying that what you see out of your side windows (i.g. your left and right screen with triples) is what you use to orientate and know where you are regarding braking zones; you can't see anything out of the windshield when you drive behind a car because of the spray of the car in front

@gregspicer12388 ай бұрын
I've tried the single large 4k screen, but then went to 3 x 27" triples. For me triples offers so much more FoV than a single screen because you can angle it around your head, my FoV in iRacing is set at 205 degrees as my eyes are actaully in front of the rear of the side screens. Howver I can see the appeal of a single screen for simplicity, reliability and frame rate.

I just did three races in the Fix Ferrari GT3. All of them lost me iR and SR. Two of them I can blame the SR and iR loss on others. The third race tho, I had a random system lockup right when I needed to brake for the second last turn. I normally never have system lock ups in iRacing, so that's concerning. But given how I've gone from slow and accident prone on day 1 of rain to actually having some sembilence of pace and not being the cause of accidents I feel like we will see fewer accidents and more good racing after people get more wet laps under their belts.

Hey Dave! A couple tips for the rain: stay off of puddles, paint, and concrete. It looked like you were just using the normal dry line, which is the opposite of what you want to do. You should be hunting for grip, experimenting off line every corner on every lap. Enter corners on the inside, slide across the dry line to the outside, take the outside rimshot, then get back to the inside to accelerate. Stay away from anything bright or shiny, dark pavement is where the grip is. Every lap is going to be different so make mental notes of where you've found grip or lack of grip, but be ready to change your line and experiment more if it looks like things might start drying out. When you're following another car, you need to use the outside edges of your vision to know where you are. Remember the draft works the same, so you need to learn to drive blind if you want to make passes! Vision is absolute shit in the rain, there's no way around it (other than being in front). Rain lights might get a buff, but in reality they aren't as effective as people think.

a great question and it definitely should! Something to keep in mind is that if Dave weren't an A license holder he would have gained SR on this race with only a 2x. The higher your license the higher the standard is. So a rookie running a rookie race will gain a lot of SR with a 2x while an A license holder running a D class race will possible lose SR or just stay the same with a 2x. It all comes down to turns per incident. And since lower class races tend to be shorter the inc. points hit harder. While a 2x in a 3 hour endurance race will gain you lots of SR.

Not really a racing incident. It was a half committed move on your part and I feel you should’ve ceded position once it was clear you weren’t going to get fully alongside under brakes. But aside from that, nice race.
@davecamyt8 ай бұрын
I disagree. I think I'd put myself in a position to have earned the space. I'm not saying it was my corner (far from it) but if you try and slingshot past taking a conventional line that can happen. I was on the outside with another car also in this race and I left room and continued.
@WNxJohnDoe8 ай бұрын
I agree with James here. I think Dave has a more liberal view than I do on what entitles you to racing room based on spotters and other tools made available by telemetry. I am more old school that if you aren’t alongside before the apex you cannot expect to be seen and are therefore at fault in contact. IMSA broadcasters commonly refer to this as an overly ambitious lunge.
@davecamyt8 ай бұрын
@@WNxJohnDoe nothing 'lungy' about this at all. I was alongside, left more than enough room to my left, didn't send it and push wide on exit. I could easily have had my nose in front forcing the move if I wanted. This was a conservative 'look'. Not sure what else you expect me to do.
@jamesswinbanks8 ай бұрын
@@davecamyt all fair to disagree here, and no malice meant from my interpretation. My usual approach is to always look at what more I could’ve done to avoid a collision, and it’s very rare that the answer is ‘nothing.’ I think it would’ve been better to force the move if you were able too, as a “look” where you have a small part alongside and you keep that there through the centre of the corner makes you both lose a bunch of time to the cars around you. But again, that’s just my interpretation and approach. All the best, Dave 🙂
