I've ridden so many different bikes and have mostly owned sport bikes. Love carving up a turn. But I also ride it to work on the freeway. (The balancing act with the tires, ha.) About 250K miles on bikes. For over 15 years I've been following sport touring for my wife and I. I'm 55 now and want to tour with her and still carve it up. At first, I was set on the Honda ST1100. The GW was always in my mind but I've ridden older versions and didn't like the weight and living room feel and turn clearance. Plus, people turn them into 3-wheelers and pull trailers. Unbelieveable. No offense, but that isn't me. Then I heard about the K1600 GT and GTL and 5 years ago I decided to get one, even after many rides on Road Kings and Ultra Limiteds. (Beautiful bikes but not me.) Nope, I'm saving for the BMW. So this past August, I did it. I bought the 2020 K1600GTL, fully loaded. 160 HP and 130 ft/lb of torque. I got it in black but I wanted blue but there was only 1 in the USA (NH and I'm in CA). I looked at the revised GW and read the reviews (didn't ride it). The GW is a much better looking bike than the GTL but if that were my main concern, I'd of bought the HD Ultra Limited. No, what I bought it for is exactly what it does. Everything is so well designed and put together. I really hope it's dependable because this bike is amazing. Simply amazing. I get about 39 mpg, has so much power and control. Went up the coast to Oregon to visit friends. Very stable in the turns along PCH. I feel the weight when I stop, but nothing at 5 mph and absolutely smooth at triple digits. I'm spoiled for any other bike. If you love to ride and you've ridden bikes for many years, I can't imagine you not loving the GTL. Keeping the rubber down.

I like the hear your thoughts after a few more clicks on the bike , and the fact that it’s an Australian review is good. I will not be getting a new bike until next year and the BMW is on the top of the list . As I am not a young man anymore and after comfort when I ride more so now then in the past .

Beautiful bike mate. I too have a 2018 K1600GTL..... Only suggestion is I hope you have added engine and pennier crash bars. Best investment I made to protect my bike.... I have dropped it once and they worked perfectly. Front engine bars I bought from bmw dealership and pennier bars I bought from a company called ilium works. Highly recommend mate. Happy riding, be safe...........messaging you all the way from Fresno, California.

I had Road glide. Now want to switch to GTL. My only concern is whether there is enough room for the boots to change the gears. The whole set up at the gear changing looks small. Do I need to bend my toe towards the gear to get a proper grip? How easy it is to change the gears if you have big boots ? I am comparing with Road glide where there is floor board and it is easy to change the gear. Appreciate your feedback

Hey Mohammed, yes your foot is on a different angle along with your whole posture on the bike. I am 174cm tall and found it comfortable without problem but would always recommend you test ride the bike first. You can also make some changes to the shifter if need be after buying the bike if you need to. Hope that helps somewhat 👍💥

Hi buddy, from south Africa. I have the 2019 and my dealer just called me today to inform me they getting a 719 GTL same as yours in a few days. I always loved the option 719, hence thinking about trading in my GT sport for the GTL. One question about the 719 seat please, most folks swop out the standard seat for a RDL or sergeant seat, because it kills them on longer rides. With this diamond stitched seat, is the comfort level any different to that of the standard GT or GTL seat? Your response will be appreciated, and safe riding buddy.
@FastnCurious5 жыл бұрын
Zunaid Kajee Hi mate, apologies for the delay in response. I find the standard seat very comfortable personally. I’ve now done quite a few 400-500 kilometre ride days and finish up just fine no sore bum. Not sure if you’ve already purchased but I also find the riding position of the GTL more comfortable with the handle bars stretched back a little more than the GT. Hope it all worked out well for you and either way they’re great bike both of them. Enjoy and ride safe! Cheers

Sounds great Lee!! Yeah get the reverse gear option cause trying to walk 400+ kilos backwards with luggage or passenger on even a slight incline won’t work. Beautiful bike, nothing compares with the luxury & capability of the ride from the GTL. Good Luck! Check out the other videos on Fast N Curious 👍💥😎
