Thanks Felipe. I do struggle with this content and whether it should be on our Fstoppers channel or not but since we reach so many people and Lee and I are the main faces on this channel, I feel like it's a good platform. Thanks for letting me know you appreciate it too even though it falls outside the normal scope of our content. -P

@@FStoppers IMHO use the channel, it will have more reach, you built it, you should be able to use it for a good cause. We are humans and life has it's challenges, if we never use we have at hand for the good, we won't be doing our moral duty... and btw, if someone doesn't like those videos you labeled so clearly that they can just skip it and wait for the ones they want to see :)

I failed my injection training with Humira at my doctor’s office today. I appreciate this video, because it inspires me to keep persevering. The injection caused a lot of stinging, but I had it packed with ice packs, which probably made it too cold. I’m terrified of injections, but I want to make this work as much as I can. I love working in film, caregiving, and being a beauty influencer. I have a busy life and want to be able to go places and get my Chron’s in remission.

very sorry to hear about your pain! Apparently there is a newer citrate free version of humira which can for some reduce or eliminate the burning or stinging of the injection. It however needs a newer prescription. Try discussing this with your doctor or pharmacist and see if it can help you. (They apparently use a newer formula for the buffer and replace the citrate buffer which might cause pain for some. the active ingredient adalimumab remains the same)

Humira can have a lot of side effect, but I just got some allergic reaction at injection point (prednisolone the day before cure that), and tiredness which is already a side effect of any inflammatory disease anyway. Patrick, I’ve watched you in a lot of fStoppers videos and have long respected you as a photographer and videographer, but never felt one way or the other about you as a human being. This series about your Crohn’s experience changes everything. You are one gutsy dude! Ever since I was diagnosed with an autoimmune condition myself, I suddenly became aware that a vast number of folks could experience a life-changing difference in their health, if only they would or could start using Enbrel or Humira. I know that a lot of people who are using these medicines stay “in the closet” about it, because of social factors -people might think they have the plague. Crohn’s in particular seems to cause embarrassment. Well, my friend, YOU are doing a huge service to everyone with treatable autoimmune conditions, just by saying “Dammit, I’m going public about this!” Trust me, you are changing lives and quite probably saving lives too. God bless you, Patrick, and rest assured that all your work at fStoppers might be saving lives, simply because you have the guts to speak out about your Crohn’s and your treatment for same. I hope you will be tracking your success -or failure-with this treatment on KZbin, and it sounds as if you intend to do so. Go for it!

Excellent video. A couple of thoughts... I have taken three injections for diabetes (two types of insulin and trulicity) and one of the things that is important is that the meds stay cool. If you are planning on taking the meds within a specific amount of time (14 days, for example), the meds do not need to be refrigerated. This part is important, because if you plan carefully, you don’t necessarily have to refrigerate your meds. I don’t need a biologic (like Humira), but insulin is stupid expensive and so getting this right is important. You are doing the right thing now, by following the instructions exactly (as difficult as that might be). As you get further along and gain experience with the meds, you will be able to plan your travel and your dosages more precisely without refrigeration. Traveling with meds (and I still have to travel with 12 medications and 1 injectable) is challenging but not impossible. It’s a matter of planning and in my case, I no longer have to take the insulin (had a gastric bypass which put my diabetes in remission), I don’t have to worry about refrigeration. Getting to a place in which you can carry your meds effectively (and minimally) will be important. However, for now, getting it right is the important consideration and you are exactly on track. While your videos are not photography related, they are important because there are people who have Crohn’s (I am close to a person who has it) and those who have to take injections need to get over the fear of taking them. As you discovered, it isn’t as bad some will claim, but still an injection is an injection. Well done!

I’ve had Ulcerative Colitis for 10 years and I’m starting Humira in the coming weeks, after putting it off for years bc I thought biologics were scary. For those commenting on how diet will put you in remission, maybe that’s true for some people but you have to react to the reality of the situation you’re in. Many people’s reality is that their condition is so bad, they’re not able to change their diet until their condition is under control. But most importantly, some people choose quality of life, and there’s nothing wrong with that. I’ve spent the last month in bed bc of my flare up. I missed the end of summer, missing the beginning of climbing season. This isn’t the life I want to live. We’re all going to die at some point, most likely for reasons not even related to our diseases. I personally choose to spend my time here being active and adventurous, not tracking everything I eat and fearing something as simple as taking antibiotics will throw me into another flare up.

I did the first loading dose today, 160 mg, for Crohn's disease, after being off it since 2016. Back then, never pinched any skin and never in my belly, just put the business end of the pen against my thigh and pushed. Today I did it just like you, except I counted 1-2-3. It was painless. I felt the medicine coursing in my pinching fingertips, weird. No bandaid or cotton ball afterwards needed. People, don't be anxious about this injection process, it's painless.

I know! I was hoping I could just get it directly from Puerto Rico since I live here but insurance says otherwise. The old citrate filled ones were pretty painful. Not horrible but definitely not something you would look forward to. I'm sure the new citrate free is pain free. I took humira when I was a teen and I would recommend not to inject right out of the fridge or in the thigh, trust me it feels like antifreeze and your whole leg will be frozen for about a minute until the pain goes away, after injecting make sure you do not move the leg at all for a few minutes or take the shot while sitting or stand up to put weight on the leg right after

You are definitely on a much higher dose, I'm on 40mg dose per needle. Mine is for rheumatoid arthritis all the other medicines that I have been on is not improved my issues. Another Humira pen injection vid mentioned the round circle on the side of the pen will fill with a YELLOW MARKER as the Humira is being injected into you...this would be at the point in the injection process where you start counting from 1 to 15...and you on the phone w/the rep that wasn't mentioned at all...watch for the yellow marker in the circle=injection complete. There is the fact that this video is now 3-years old...maybe the YELLOW MARKER fill as medication is exiting the pen is a newer feature...for one seems if it was, the rep would have you looking for it to fill during the injection. In the other vid I watched, the guy counted like you at start of push of the plunger, and by time her got to 2, the medication view circle had completely filled w/the yellow marker in place of the visual medication in the marker...so his procedure went just as yours, and by time he got to "1...2..", his was complete, circle had filled with yellow, signaling injection complete...and his count cadence was same same as yours...like he didn't drag out long getting to 2, his count timing basically same as yours, so would have been same as when you got to 2, yellow marker fill was complete, and that meant done. THERE'S THIS: Maybe the yellow marker here 3-yrs after your vid is a new feature added (?). Also, maybe the pen itself injects faster now too...as by 2, circle had filled w/yellow marker, and that's a built in indicator it's complete, and if yellow marker was added, after this vid, maybe speed of injection from pen improved too, of faster.
