My FIRST Hunt Of The Season | Nevada Archery Mule Deer (EP. 1)

Randy drew an archery mule deer tag in Nevada, and per usual he links up with longtime friend Scott Jones. They establish a basecamp that they can hunt from and explore the surrounding area. They then head up a road that Scott couldn't make up with his ATV, but is convinced Randy can in his Ford Raptor.
The guys spend the evening glassing the landscape looking for any buck that gets them excited. The next morning they are up bright and early to continue to survey the landscape. The thick smoke from wildlfires makes it difficult but Randy is able turn up some bucks.
Once Randy gets a buck bedded he makes a plan to make his first stalk of the season. With any luck he'll have an opportunity to fill his first Nevada archery deer tag in 10 years.

I know little about hunting and care about it even less, but I know a funny story hunters might enjoy. My hubbys former coworker won two tags in the NM hunting lottery. He had like a week or so to bag a bear and an elk near Silver City, few hours away. Dude broke his arm hunting the bear, found out he needed surgery to fix it, but delayed long enough to bag an elk in his allotted timeframe...with a bow and a broke arm. Mission accomplished though!

Reading a book by Dwight Schuh, renowned Bow hunter, writer who hunted the High Desert. He passed away a few years ago, but he shared that he would take his boots off too sneak up on the deer, as the crunching of the Rocks and dried vegetation underfoot can be quite loud. sneaking up on deer in the High Desert with foliage cover only thigh high seems like an undaunting task even with a rifle. Just started the book. I will be hunting the High desert this coming rifle season, wont be in my socks but did see a pair of shoes that had soft flesh like soul. Might take my boots off after spotting game and slip on the shoes for the stalking part. Good try, the fact that there out there during a drought gives me hope, as I might actually see something and that my hunting trip does not just turn into a camping trip only, on account that I mistaken the unit that I picked for the area I wanted to hunt so I am stuck with this High desert tag during a drought. Again good try, beautiful country, and I will take notes from this video Thanks again.
